The main responsibility of this position is to manage the inbound and outbound activities of the warehouse
Responsibilities
Warehouse and Distribution Planning
Ensure Batch management and Stock Accuracy across all packaging materials
Ensure material storage placement strategy followed - ABC analysis
Execute the FIFO system in product distribution
Ensure finished goods and raw materials are packed correctly onto pallets and placed into marked areas
Supervise the picking of stock for loading as per order
Hygiene and Housekeeping
Ensure all products are QC checked, stored in the correct final packaging, and placed in designated areas
Maintain factory hygiene and sanitation standards in line with company food safety requirements
Enforce controls over personal hygiene and the use of protective clothing
Ensure food safety rules are followed at all times
Maintain good housekeeping in the front yard, loading bays, and dock level areas
Training and Discipline
Provide continuous on-the-job training for warehouse staff
Ensure warehouse personnel maintain professional discipline at all times
Utilization of Personnel and Equipment
Ensure equipment is maintained and effectively used
Motivate staff to continuously improve performance standards
Inspect and maintain forklifts and reach trucks regularly
Ensure only licensed personnel operate lifting equipment
Return broken-slatted pallets to the supplier and record returns to Chep accurately
Confirm daily forklift checklists and battery maintenance forms are completed and signed
Keep pedestrian and roll-up doors closed as much as possible for security and efficiency
Monitoring and Improvement of Warehouse Processes
Monitor all processes to ensure optimal use of resources
Conduct accurate monthly stock counts for all products
Safety and Loss Control
Ensure compliance with national safety regulations
Adhere to stock control processes to prevent unauthorized product/material removal
Stores
Maintain general housekeeping and organize the correct storage of raw and packaging materials
Collaborate with the Warehouse Manager, QA, and Procurement teams to ensure correct stacking and shipment to meet client specifications
Health and Safety
Participate in safety meetings and discussions hosted by Soill
Follow up on safety actions from committees or management
Report safety incidents promptly
Attend safety training and refresher sessions
Comply with Soill's safety protocols
Distribute safety-related information as needed
Wear prescribed protective clothing at all times
Requirements
Minimum Qualification and Experience:
Grade 12
Knowledge of SAP will be advantageous.
Conversational in Afrikaans & English
Diploma in Warehousing/Logistics and/or 5 Years' experience in a similar role in FMCG
Highly Numerate & Analytical
Thorough understanding of financial reporting and control procedures
Familiar with HACCP/FSSC22000
Thorough knowledge of Warehouse Management systems, and familiarity with other supply chain related applications eg: distribution systems, tracking & tracing systems, EDI etc.
