Village Nurse (Registered Nurse) - Full-Time

Locations: The Rathfelder, Riverside & Fernbridge

Overview

Are you a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) with a passion for supporting older persons in maintaining their independence and wellness?

CPOA is seeking a

Village Nurse

to join our team at The Rathfelder, Riverside, and Fernbridge. This is a

permanent, full-time position

(Monday to Friday, 07:00 - 16:00) within a caring, resident-centred environment that promotes dignity, well-being, and holistic healthcare. This position includes live-in accommodation as part of the employment package

Key Responsibilities

Resident Care & Clinical Duties

Conduct wellness rounds and monthly health checks for assisted and independent living residents Complete DQ98 and functionality assessments, welcome assessments for new residents, and post-hospitalisation follow-ups Provide routine clinical care via scheduled clinics and walk-in services, including wound dressings, injections, and chronic disease support Administer and manage medication, including TB care and script renewals Respond to medical emergencies and coordinate ambulance and family communication Educate residents on medication adherence and chronic condition management Maintain accurate and up-to-date digital records (e.g., DigiAge)

Care Planning & Supervision

Collaborate with the Care Manager to develop and update individualised care plans Participate in family meetings and vulnerability discussions, offering clinical insights Supervise private carers in the cottages and ensure adherence to care plans Provide orientation and ongoing support to caregivers, maintaining high care standards

Clinic Management

Operate clinic services at Rathfelder and manage "Clinic Hour" at Fernbridge Attend to walk-in residents at Riverside (e.g., blood pressure checks, minor procedures) Monitor clinic stock and equipment, ensuring proper infection control practices Ensure all services and consumables are correctly billed and recorded

Health Education & Community Engagement

Organise wellness initiatives such as health days with external providers Promote preventative care, health education, and resident engagement

Emergency Response

Respond to incidents such as falls and medical emergencies Provide immediate nursing care and first aid, coordinating further assistance Be available for after-hours and weekend standby when required

Compliance & Governance

Maintain confidentiality and treat all residents with dignity and respect Adhere to organisational policies, ethical codes, and regulatory requirements Report concerns, suspected abuse, or hazards through relevant channels Participate in training, fire drills, and emergency preparedness activities

What We're Looking For

Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse (RN) Experience in community nursing, geriatric care, or a retirement setting (advantageous) Strong clinical skills in assessment, care planning, and emergency response Proficient with digital healthcare systems (e.g., DigiAge) Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Compassionate, ethical, and resident-focused approach Ability to work independently and collaboratively Flexible, reliable, and committed to high-quality care
