Job Description


Our client within the Telecommunications and Enegery sector is looking for an experienced Specialist Utilities Manager to join their team.

Responsibilities:

  • The Utilities Manager will be responsible for management of the utilities function, council and landlord electricity usage, management of external and internal service providers
  • Coordinate and facilitate delivery of project objectives related to utilities transfer and utilities management project
  • Verification of Electricity supply size for commercial support
  • Responsible for power fault escalations to Eskom/Municipality Senior Management
  • Responsible for execution of power applications for new connections and upgrades
  • Ensure queries are addressed timeously in relation to landlord electricity queries including Eskom and Municipality queries
  • Track progress and review project tasks to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Proactively communicate project status, issues, and risks to the related teams
  • Manage relationships with partners/ vendors.
  • Prepare and facilitate drawdown requests, purchase requests/purchase orders follow up and invoice receipting for payments.
  • Validation and approval of municipal and landlord bills to ensure correct tariff structures are being applied in support of drawdown requests.
  • Experience in budget management and control and municipal bylaws.
  • Promote communication between colleagues for the benefit of information flow and to curb any problems that may occur
  • Identify and coordinate internal and external efforts to connect new sites with high grid availability.
  • Monitor grid availability on connected sites and ensure full utilization to reduce Opex.
  • Update and maintain database of all sites connected to the grid.
  • Ensure timely resolution of escalations related to grid-powered sites.
  • Facilitate and coordinate access ref. requests from vendors to the NOC team and ensure job work orders are approved by Field Service Engineers, Field Operations Team Leaders, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure meters on grid-powered sites are recharged on time to prevent disconnection.
  • Validate and process vendor invoices.
  • Work with the regional team to ensure that Job Completion Certificates (JCCs) are documented and signed off by vendors for completed work.
  • Process service charge payments as per schedule.
  • Update and maintain database of service charge payments.
  • may arise.
  • Prepare and submit reports to the Manager, Diesel & Asset Control on all matters pertaining to job area.
Critieria:
  • Completed Degree in Telecoms Engineering or related
  • +5 years relevant experience in the Telecoms industry
