Job Description

Our client is urgently hiring an Accounting Clerk to join their finance team in Klerksdorp.
This role is ideal for an individual with strong accounting knowledge, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines. The successful candidate will support daily accounting functions, ensure financial accuracy, and contribute to the smooth operation of the finance department.
Duties and Responsibilities
Accounts Payable & Receivable
Process, capture, and reconcile supplier invoices.
Prepare supplier payments and reconcile supplier accounts.
Issue customer invoices and follow up on outstanding payments.
Maintain accurate customer and supplier master data.
General Ledger & Bank Reconciliations
Post journal entries and accurately allocate transactions.
Perform bank, cashbook, and petty cash reconciliations.
Maintain balance sheet reconciliations.
Financial Reporting & Administration
Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
Prepare audit support schedules and assist external auditors.
Maintain organised and accessible filing systems for financial documentation.
Prepare management reports and ad-hoc financial analyses.
Compliance & Statutory Submissions
Assist with VAT, PAYE, UIF, and other statutory returns.
Ensure all financial transactions comply with company policies and relevant legislation.
Additional Responsibilities
Maintain and update fixed asset registers.
Process staff expense claims and reimbursements.
Assist with payroll inputs and payroll-related reconciliations.
Handle queries from suppliers, customers, and internal departments.
Support stock control by reconciling financial records with inventory counts.
Perform general administrative tasks, including correspondence, filing, and reporting.
Participate in continuous process improvement initiatives within the finance function.
Minimum Requirements
Matric / Grade 12 (essential).
Diploma or Certificate in Accounting or Finance (advantageous).
Minimum 3-5 years' experience in an accounting, bookkeeping, or financial administration role.
Experience using accounting software such as Pastel, Sage, QuickBooks, or similar.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite.
Solid understanding of accounting principles and reconciliation processes. * Fluency in Afrikaans (advantageous)
