What will you do?

Santam is looking for a passionate, proactive, and solution driven individual for a position as Treasury Clerk. This is a permanent position that exists in the Group Treasury Accounting team based in Tygervalley Head Office.

The successful incumbent will form part of the Treasury Accounting team, performing accounting and Treasury activities for banking transactions and query-resolution services. The person will be responsible for producing bank reconciliations and processing of accounting entries in the JD Edwards (i.e. JDE) accounting system.
Support the Treasury Accountant by producing Treasury reports and support ad hoc projects for automation and process efficiencies.

What will make you successful in this role?

• Processing of electronic payments on various banks' online systems
• Ensure timeous allocation of banking transactions
• Escalation reporting of unallocated bank reconciling items
• Perform bank and other General Ledger reconciliations
• Process Journal Entries in JD Edwards accounting system
• Provide Treasury Analytics for month-end reporting
• Timeous escalation and query resolution with internal and external stakeholders

Qualification and Experience

• Completed B Com Accounting Degree / Diploma (Financial Accounting major)
• Previous experience in Banking or Financial Services environment(advantageous)
• A minimum of 5 years' experience in a large corporate Finance /Accounting department performing bank reconciliations and accounting for foreign currency transactions; intercompany loan accounts etc.
• Working experience with various banks 'online banking platforms
• Experience with large volume transactions and complex accounting processes

Knowledge and Skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency
• Working experience and knowledge of accounting principles (i.e. reconciliations; general ledger; financial statements and journals)

• Analytical with strong attention to detail
