Trader FMCG / Food & Bev /Agri
Free State - South Africa
We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Trader to lead the trading of soybean meal, oil, and hulls across South Africa. This role plays a key part in shaping and executing trading strategies, managing hedge positions on platforms such as SAFEX, CBOT, YIELDX, and OTC markets, and driving customer engagement. The successful candidate will bring strong market insight, excellent trading skills, and a proven ability to execute profitable deals while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams.
Minimum Requirements:
- BCom or BSc degree (Commerce, Agriculture, or related field)
- 5+ years trading experience in grain, oilseed, or protein markets
- Deep understanding of SAFEX, CBOT, YIELDX, and OTC derivatives
- Knowledge of local and international oilseed markets and supply chains
- Commercial strategy and execution experience
- Advanced Excel and trading platform proficiency
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Resilient, results-driven, and commercially focused
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
- Highly organised with attention to detail
- Team player with leadership qualities
- Manage full trading cycle for soy products and other by-products
- Execute hedge trades aligned with business risk strategy
- Maintain and grow customer relationships across sectors
- Deliver accurate forecasts and market trend analysis
- Support cross-functional collaboration to ensure smooth operation
