Thermofluids Engineer
Job Description
A well established and reputable company in Somerset West in need of a Thermofluids Engineer. The ideal candidate will be a dedicated and hands-on mechanical engineer with experience in rocket system design and analysis. This challenging but exciting opportunity provides wide technical exposure in a stimulating environment, ideal for someone who is keen on personal growth in the Thermofluids Engineering environment. You will have a minimum of 8 - 10 years' design experience.
You will be responsible for but not limited to:
Detailed aerodynamic design and analysis of guided and unguided rocket systems and similar high-speed vehicles
Code maintenance of in-house numerical solvers (six-degree-of-freedom flight simulation and internal ballistic simulation)
Collaborating with other departments on multi-disciplinary projects
Preparation of project design reports
Writing design/project reports
System level testing support in RSA and at the client abroad
Assist with system engineering and project management tasks
Assist with manufacturing requirements and quality assurance
Liaising with clients and suppliers
Guidance and training of clients engineers
Requirements
Matric
M.Eng / B.Sc / B.Eng / B.Tech (Mechanical Engineering)
At least 3 years' relevant experience in design and analysis of rocket systems or similar aircraft
Experience in CFD modelling (preferably ANSYS)
Programming experience in Python and C
Experience working on large datasets and/or batch processing of CFD
Experience working on projects with strongly inter-dependant systems
Innovative design abilities
Skills:
Fluent in Afrikaans & English
Be detailed and organized team player with demonstrated delivery in high pressure situations
Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
A proactive and organized approach to work, capable of meeting tight deadlines
A team player who can also work independently, taking ownership of assigned tasks
A meticulous detailed approach
Value character and the interpersonal abilities to work in teams
