SUMMARY:
An innovative and dynamic engineering firm based in Somerset West is looking to expand its Thermofluids Department. This client is known for its high-impact work in the aerospace sector, with a strong focus on propulsion and systems engineering.
POSITION INFO:
They deliver specialized consulting and engineering services to local and international partners, supported by a small but exceptionally skilled team of professionals.
This role is ideal for a hands-on Mechanical Engineer with a passion for advanced system design and thermofluids. It offers wide technical exposure in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, and the opportunity to contribute to real-world aerospace systems development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed aerodynamic design and analysis of rocket systems and high-speed vehicles.
  • Maintain and enhance in-house simulation tools, including six-degree-of-freedom flight and internal ballistics solvers.
  • Collaborate across departments on multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Prepare and deliver design documentation and technical reports.
  • Support system-level testing locally and abroad.
  • Assist with systems engineering and project coordination tasks.
  • Provide input on manufacturing and quality assurance processes.
  • Liaise with clients and suppliers.
  • Offer technical guidance and support to client engineers.
Minimum Requirements:
  • BSc in
(M.Eng preferred). * 3+ years' experience in the design and analysis of rocket systems or similar aerospace applications.
  • Competency in CFD modelling (preferably using ANSYS).
  • Strong programming skills in Python and C.
  • Experience with processing large datasets or batch CFD runs.
  • Familiarity with the integration of complex, interdependent aerospace systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Fluent in both English and Afrikaans.
Additional Advantageous Skills:
  • Prior involvement in rocket or aircraft system design.
  • Experience with aerodynamic modeling for flight simulations.
  • Familiarity with wind tunnel testing and CFD validation.
  • Exposure to CAD modeling, instrumentation, and physical testing.
