Summary

• This is a permanent vacancy.
• 3 years previous mining industry work experience required including the efficient deployment of mining systems.
• Hybrid: 3 x days from home and 2 x days office based in Woodmead.
• Only South African citizens or Permanent Residents with SA ID may apply.
• Must be willing to travel locally within South Africa and internationally (60% of time).
• Company car & petrol card is only for business usage when traveling to other regions in SA (Northern Cape - Sishen / Kolomela), North-West and Mpumalanga. Must have a valid driverxe2x80x99s license and own personal car (for daily travel from home to the office).
• Clean ITC/credit record and no criminal record.

Description

Position will include local and international travelling:

• Within South Africa (Northern Cape - Sishen / Kolomela), North-West and Mpumalanga. Company car & petrol card is only for business usage when traveling to these sites in SA. The candidate must use his/her own private vehicle from home to office on normal office days.
• Internationally: Client pays for flights, accommodation and petrol. Travelling will include 60% of time away from home. Countries include East Africa (DRC, Egypt, Morocco etc.), Asia and Europe.

Job functions:

• Support and maintain software.
• Troubleshoot system issues.
• Own and implement customer system configurations.
• Implement system customizations using scripting tools.
• Participate in onsite system installation efforts.
• To be a point of escalation for technical issues that the team raise as they are working on projects and to work through the escalation process to seek resolution to problems outside of the responsibility of the Project Engineers and other technical staff.
• Will work with Project Managers to ensure the efficient deployment of mining systems on time and within budget.
• Ensure that the deployment of systems and products is carried out as efficiently as possible.
• Actively work on product/project deployment of complex Mining Fatigue Management Solutions in a hands-on manner.
• Undertake complex problem solving involving multiple integrated systems.

• To ensure that relevant Stakeholders are aware of risks and or issues with the product and the technical solutions being deployed to customer sites.
• Escalation of critical issues requiring other Stakeholdersxe2x80x99 input to resolve issues, specifically the relevant Mining Services or supporting teams representative.
• Maintain technical knowledge of the current and upcoming product offerings.
• Maintain knowledge of current, new and evolving strategies and technologies in relation to systems support through appropriate industry links and professional memberships.
• Regular reporting of current project issues, including updates on status and resolution methods.
• Utilizing relationships developed with customers and other contacts to advise Mining Services Team of potential issues affecting customers as well as other opportunities for the company.
• Work collaboratively with the sales team in a pre-sales capacity (e.g. attending / leading technical presentations).
• Continuously seek opportunities to improve the quality of the systems, installations, and support procedures.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications & experience required:

• IT Degree/Diploma plus 3 years previous mining industry work experience.
• Must have a strong and broad high-level knowledge of the mining systems deployed.

Technical skills required:

• Maintaining and supporting Linux & UNIX environments.
• Postgres
• SQlite
• SQL Server
• Ubuntu
• Linux and Linux Shell Scripting
• Developing or supporting open-source software
• Setup and support of relational databases
• Deliver bespoke customization as required.
