Chief Rock Engineer - Mining - Northern Cape

An International Mining House has an exciting opportunity for a Chief Rock Engineer to join their dynamic organization.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the planning of mine layouts and stopping sequences, control of the incidence of rock bursts design and implementation of all support standards.
  • Ensure long term stability over stoping of haulages, crosscuts and inclined shafts shaft pillar design and extraction plans support for main excavations pump chambers, water dams, settlers, hoist chambers.
  • Organization of introductory rock mechanics courses for mine production officials identify Rock Engineering and Strata Control best practices.
  • Discover and implement support and design projects to improve return of investment Risk, Health and Environmental procedures codes of practice.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Chamber of Mines Rock Engineering Certificate.
  • 5 Years operational experience at Senior Rock Engineer/Strat Control level.
  • Exposure with both Open Cast and Underground Mining environments.
  • Code B Driver License.
  • B Eng. Mining Engineering/BSc Geology or equivalent will be an added advantage.
