Technical Assistant (Fresh Produce)
Our client in the fruit industry is seeking the full-time services of a suitably qualified and experienced Technical Assistant for their exports & local operations in table grapes, pomegranates, stone fruit and citrus. This position is based at the offices in Stellenbosch and requires regular traveling to producers.
The main purpose of this position is to assist the Technical Manager and marketing team with administration, quality inspections and audits for table grapes, pomegranates, stone fruit and citrus products.
Main duties:

• Verify that the producers and clients comply to all requirements and regulations.
• Perform quality control for table grapes, pomegranates, stone fruit and citrus products in orchards and at pack stores.
• Assist the Technical Manager and marketing team on administration.
• Assist producers with the audits.
• Collect, file and update all producer accreditation (ex: Global Gap, Leaf, Siza, ext.).
• Follow up with consignee's regarding all due diligence information that consignee requires from the company's producers.
• Assist with the IFS audit.

Requirements:

• Degree or diploma in Viticulture, or in any agriculture related fields.
• Formal training in handling and implementing Due Diligence, Global Gap, HACCP, IFS, and all relevant accreditation.
• More than 2 years' experience in the relevant field.
• Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities with the other teams are key to the position.
• Strong administrative, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Applications (Outlook; Excel & PowerPoint).
• Passion for sustainable and productive agricultural practices.
• A valid driver's license.
• A willingness to travel.
