To lead a team of underwriters within Life Operations, ensuring consistent, high-quality assessment of PPS Life insurance applications. The role drives operational excellence, supports strategic initiatives like automation and Artificial Intelligence (AI) integration, and fosters team development through expert guidance and oversight.

Minimum Requirements

Education:

Bachelors degree in Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy, or related Management Qualification (preferred)

Experience:

10+ years of experience within an underwriting environment, of which 3 years as a Team Leader or Team Manager 5+ years of experience in a Senior Underwriting role

Knowledge and Skills:

Duties and Responsibilities

Provide leadership, set objectives, manage performance, and motivate staff to ensure high-quality underwriting for PPS Life Insurance Address queries and escalations from members, branches, advisors/brokers, and other stakeholders; attend to complaints via written or telephonic communication Verify that processes support effective underwriting decisions and embed Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) principles Implement improvements, new technologies, and automation in underwriting; champion innovation and integration of lab results into workflows Maintain and improve Service Level Agreements (SLAs) in underwriting, monitor productivity, and institute plans of action for non-conformances Mentor Junior Underwriters, conduct peer reviews, develop succession plans, and build a strong internal talent pipeline * Stay up to date with industry and regulatory developments, comply with auditing requirements, and ensure adherence to compliance standards
