The TB Multi-sectoral Lead for SANAC, seconded by THINK, will play a crucial role in supporting the coordination efforts, multi-sectoral platforms, and activities related to TB at various levels. The responsibilities will encompass developing, strengthening, and monitoring TB programs and initiatives, explicitly identifying missing TB cases, and aiding in implementing the TB recovery plan. Collaboration with diverse stakeholders will be essential to ensuring the successful execution of these initiatives. We are looking for a dedicated professional with a passion for public health and a solid commitment to tackling the challenges posed by TB in our community. The role will rove between Pretoria (80%) and Centurion (20%).
Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Support the development and review of the national TB program work plans and other program documents, including for effective program implementation.
  • Undertake regular site visits to ensure and support the implementation of activities according to the approved work plans.
  • Ensure timely submission of reports on the implementation of TB programs to relevant internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support the provinces with the launch, implementation, and monitoring of the TB caucus activities.
  • Lead and support the provinces in developing and implementing TB caucus work plans.
  • Lead TB-related capacity-building initiatives targeting legislature members, national and provincial AIDS councils, and civil society members.
  • Work closely with the Provincial Aids Council secretariat, HAST managers, government departments, developmental partners, and other strategic stakeholders to ensure that activities supporting the multi-sectoral TB programs are well implemented and monitored per the national and provincial work plans.
  • Contribute towards developing the communication and stakeholder engagement strategy and developing TB-related communication and promotional materials.
  • Support the implementation of a multi-sectoral accountability framework on TB in collaboration with NDOH, DSD, WHO, provinces, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Lead and support the AIDS councils by coordinating multi-sectoral TB programs aligned to TB caucus activities in provinces.
  • Coordinate and support TB ambassadors in implementing their work plans in the areas they support.
  • Performing any other duties as will be allocated by SANAC management.
  • Monitor, document, and report on the multi-sectoral TB program implementation best practices and lessons learned.
  • Work closely with the SANAC M&E Team, technical leads, and other relevant stakeholders to disseminate research results and outputs to inform decision-making and programming.
  • Participate in Global Fund platforms and SANAC sub-recipient deep dive analysis meetings to assess the quality of services and standard of care.
  • Support SANAC units to regularly capture, prepare, and update the multi-sectoral TB program performance data.
  • Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual activity reports.
  • Support the production of regular bulletins on issues affecting the TB initiatives in the Global Fund grant.
  • Support monitoring of good financial record keeping and deliver targets within budgets, particularly the TB caucus activities.
  • Support producing reports to stakeholders and reporting to SANAC on TB initiatives.
  • Support coordinating advocacy work with prioritised population groups for universal access to TB and HIV, leveraging the Global Fund and other donor funding to overcome structural barriers.
  • Support key TB prevention and treatment programs to achieve value for Money by being efficient and economical.

Requirements:
  • A Degree in a related field such as Public Health or similar, a Masters Degree is preferred.
  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience working within the filed of TB in South Africa and the region.
  • Programmatic knowledge and experience in TB, TB/HIV, DR TB, and TB prevention programs, including planning, designing, implementing, monitoring, evaluating, and reporting.
  • Experience coordinating stakeholders, working with government departments, development partners, donors, civil society organisations, and the private sector.
  • In-depth understanding of the National Strategic Plan for HIV, TB, and STIs.
  • Familiarity with government structures, processes, and critical networks.
  • An understanding of government and legislative structures and their respective functions.
  • Ability to engage with members of parliament at national, provincial, and district levels.
  • A creative and innovative problem-solver who can navigate complex situations effectively.
