Job Description


A Manufacturing company in Ekurhuleni is looking for a Supply Chain Manager with strong logistics and supply chain background. Ability to demonstrate advanced JDE computer literacy skills. Experience in using Supply Chain Management systems for sales forecasting and demand planning - MRP, shipping - import and export experience. Must have a bachelor's degree with 10 years supply chain experience in Automotive or Manufacturing industries and 5 years management experience

Purpose of the Job

To manage and control the Sales Admin and Logistics Departments to achieve customer satisfaction through communication, on time delivery, quality in accordance with company goals, targets and budgets. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Effective and efficient control of department in order to meet company objectives.
  • Research industry information, analyse and implement systems and procedures to ensure supply chain efficiencies and effectiveness
  • Customer Service: Ensure highest levels of customer service. Monitor customer order backlogs daily and drive throughout.
  • Ensuring that goods are delivered in the right quantities, to the right customer, and at the right time (on time and in full OTIF)
  • Undertaking the full review and development of warehouse systems and procedures
  • Managing forecasting, demand, and supply planning
  • Manage and monitor departmental health, safety, environmental and quality aspects
  • Manage FIFO and ensure adherence
  • Adherence to QMS
  • Design a cost-effective supply chain that is aligned to business objectives and meets customer and clients' requirements
  • Reporting: Monitor & report all KPI's on daily weekly and monthly basis. Logistics and warehousing costs, inventory value and turns percentage of slow moving and obsolete stock.
  • Continuous Improvement: Critically reviewing processes and being a change agent for driving continuous improvement and ensuring corrective and preventative actions are in place.
  • Ensure smooth and efficient operation of all warehouses under your control
  • Ensure that high degree of customer service is maintained, through speed, accuracy and quality of the supply chain.
  • Ensuring all JDE/MRP and admin related functions are timorously done.
  • Perform Stock takes and cycle counts as required.
  • Ensure that subordinates obey safety regulations and observe safety precautions as laid down in the applicable legislation.
  • Daily planning and co-ordination of the distribution requirements
  • Drawing up of annual logistics budget.
  • Budget and cost control.
  • Motivate, organize and encourage teamwork within the workforce to ensure set productivity targets are met.
  • Manage customer service activities including order entry, customer satisfaction, interface with sales, production, distribution, regulatory, and quality ensuring that the company's customer service creates competitive advantage in marketplace including resolving customer complaints
  • Analyse and improve cycle time from order to delivery promise dates
  • Manage, train and develop supply chain coordinators, Team Leaders & Team Members
  • Conduct performance appraisals & disciplinary enquiries
  • Meet cost, productivity, accuracy and timeline targets
The following requirements constitute the core competencies (essential requirements) of the position:
  • Computer and Technical/Mechanical ability
  • In-depth knowledge of sales, administration, and logistics. (SCM)
  • Proficient in standard business office software
  • In depth knowledge of JDE and MRP essential
Education & Experience
  • A B degree with 10 years supply chain experience is essential to fill this position.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience at a management level
  • Strong logistics and supply chain knowledge is critical for this role
  • Experience in the Automotive / Manufacturing industry
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Able to demonstrate advanced JDE computer literacy skills
  • Experience in using Supply Chain Management systems for Sales Forecasting and Demand planning. - MRP
  • Conflict handling and dispute resolutions skills
  • Shipping - import and export experience
