Job Description


Our client based in Cape Town is looking for a Supplier Performance Manager in their Manufacturing department. (High requirement for onsite visits to manufacturing facilities in India, other parts of Asia and Europe.)

As the lead Supplier Manager for Film, you will be responsible for assisting the Supply chain manager in ensuring that raw materials (film specifically) are manufactured, tested and released in compliance with SLAxe2x80x99s including provisions related to BRC, FDA and other applicable regulations.

The key function of this role is to minimise the risk to the company by ensuring a high level of compliance at their supplier manufacturing sites. Input into the blends, technical review of data and waste reduction will form part of this supplier management programme. Ensuring that commercial objectives are met in line with supplier development plan, will be a key deliverable.

The post holder will be the lead for auditing and associated activities in their supplier sites in India and other territories on a regular basis; this will require travel to these regions approximately 30% of the time.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and conduct quality inspections of supplier facilities, including, but not limited to, manufacturing facilities and ensure compliance with SLAxe2x80x99s as well as BRC and US FDA regulations.
  • Lead and conduct responsible sourcing inspections of supplier manufacturing facilities as per SLAxe2x80x99s and company guidelines.
  • Lead and conduct quality inspections of other third-party service providers such as packaging site and manufacturing facilities.
  • Compile inspection reports to include findings, corrections and process improvements.
  • Track corrective actions and planned action agreements from inspections to closure.
  • Participate in continuous evaluation and improvement of all quality aspects at supplier manufacturing sites with particular emphasis on process systems and QMS.
  • Carry out the company's compliance due diligence exercises.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance policies are managed correctly and efficiently and provide recommendations and direction to relevant parties as necessary.
  • Keep the Management team and colleagues updated on issues and actions which impact the business.
  • Participate in regular team and group meetings.
  • Be flexible within the supply chain quality function to meet the needs of the growing business; using technical expertise, skills, knowledge, and experience as required.
  • Rigorously drive through the required change control process to ensure that corrective and preventative actions are implemented OTIF.
Education/Training:
  • BCom (or other) supply chain management degree
Knowledge and Skills:
  • 3+ yearxe2x80x99s quality auditing experience, in a polymer manufacturing environment in a similar type role within a progressive organisation.
  • International auditing experience would be to your advantage.
  • Experience working with companies in Asia and Europe would be to your advantage.
  • Experience with blend formulation.
  • Experience with resin pricing conditions and ability to review financial data would be advantageous.
Additional Knowledge and Skills:
  • Solid understanding and knowledge of BRC, GMP, Quality Assurance, and regulatory principles in a food/polymer manufacturing environment.
  • Solid understanding of Quality Management Systems.
  • Solid understanding of aseptic manufacturing processes, packaging processes, etc. would be to your advantage.
  • Responsible sourcing experience while an asset is not essential as training will be provided.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels within the organization.
  • Demonstrate ability to lead suppliers to improve performance or effectiveness; including the ability to influence through effective communication and diplomacy.
  • Ability to compile and make presentations at external sites to senior management level.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions based on judgement and integrity.
  • Proven analytical skills and ability to transfer findings into well-written report formats.
  • Experience/training in problem-solving and process improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and with others to accomplish goals in a challenging environment.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrates and understands customs and beliefs of various groups or cultures and understands how these differences affect performance and communication.
  • Demonstrates high levels of accountability and adaptability in delivering KPIxe2x80x99s.
  • Demonstrates sound judgement and balanced decision making.
