The Supervisor for the NKP (National Key Point) site is responsible for overseeing daily security operations, ensuring compliance with firearm competency requirements, and maintaining the safety and protection of the facility and its assets. This role requires strong leadership, excellent knowledge of firearm handling and regulations, and the ability to manage a team of armed security personnel effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise all armed security staff at the NKP site, ensuring adherence to operational protocols and safety standards.
Conduct daily briefings, shift handovers, and patrol inspections.
Ensure all personnel deployed are trained, certified, and competent in firearm handling in accordance with the Firearms Control Act (Act 60 of 2000, South Africa or local equivalent).
Maintain up-to-date firearm registers, ammunition logs, and ensure safe storage of weapons.
Liaise with law enforcement, emergency services, and site stakeholders as required.
Respond swiftly and effectively to security incidents, emergencies, and alarms.
Conduct risk assessments and implement site-specific security strategies.
Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and incident reports to management.
Perform routine inspections of firearms and ensure maintenance and compliance.
Train and mentor junior personnel on firearm safety and site protocols.
Enforce access control, perimeter surveillance, and incident escalation procedures.
Qualifications and Experience:
Matric / Grade 12 or equivalent.
Valid Firearm Competency Certificate
(Business Purposes).
PSIRA Registered - Grade B or higher.
At least
3-5 years' experience
in a supervisory role within a high-risk or armed security environment.
Experience working at or securing a National Key Point site is highly advantageous.
Valid driver's license and reliable transport.
Skills and Competencies:
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent communication and reporting abilities.
Thorough understanding of firearm laws and NKP regulations.
High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
Ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure.
Physical Requirements:
Must be physically fit and able to carry out patrols and respond to incidents as required.
Must be able to handle and operate a firearm safely under operational conditions.
