Substation Engineer

Job Description

Duties:

  • Develop and review detailed electrical designs for substations, including single-line diagrams, schematics, and wiring diagrams
  • Design and specify substation equipment such as transformers, circuit breakers, protection relays, and control panels
  • Ensure compliance with national and international standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC, NESC, and NEC)
  • Coordinate with civil, structural, and protection engineers during multi-disciplinary design efforts
  • Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and testing
  • Prepare project documentation including design reports, bill of materials, and equipment specifications
  • Engage with clients, vendors, and regulatory bodies to ensure seamless project delivery.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline (Master's preferred for senior roles)
  • 2-8+ years of relevant substation design experience
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, and MicroStation) and engineering tools (e.g., ETAP, SKM, or similar)
  • Solid understanding of protection & control schemes, grounding, and high-voltage equipment
  • Strong communication and project coordination skills
  • PE license (or working toward one) is a plus
