Sous Chef Required - Busy Seaside Restaurant (Southern Suburbs)
We are seeking an experienced, passionate, and highly capable Sous Chef to join our leadership team at a very busy seaside restaurant in the Southern Suburbs. This role is for a strong leader who can handle the demands of a high-volume kitchen, maintain composure under pressure, and inspire their brigade to deliver excellence every day.
Requirements
Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar senior kitchen role (Sous Chef / Junior Head Chef).
Proven leadership and team management skills - able to manage and motivate your own brigade.
Strong problem-solving ability and composure during busy service periods.
Ability to manage daily operations independently while upholding the highest standards.
Excellent knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and stock control procedures.
Must reside close to Kalk Bay / Southern Suburbs or have reliable transport.
Contactable references essential.
Flexibility to work 6 days per week, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and lead your own kitchen brigade.
Oversee service from start to finish, ensuring smooth flow and consistency.
Implement, monitor, and improve daily SOPs.
Maintain and monitor stock levels and ensure accurate stock flow.
Maintain and manage all kitchen equipment and report maintenance needs promptly.
Ensure all kitchen staff follow strict daily hygiene and food safety routines.
Act as the key communication link between the kitchen and Front of House.
Update and maintain daily menu items and manage out-of-stock communication.
Ensure consistency and high quality of all food leaving the kitchen.
Address and resolve problems quickly and effectively during service.
Continuously train, coach, and mentor junior kitchen staff.
Support the Head Chef and senior management team in achieving operational goals.
