Job Description


The Sourcing Specialist is crucial in securing the continuity and security of supply of high-quality goods and services at competitive prices, while minimizing contractual risks. The incumbent will be actively involved in managing and optimizing supplier relations through commercial negotiations, tender processes, and contract management. They support the business in conducting spend analysis and carrying out strategic sourcing initiatives. The Sourcing Specialist must develop cost baselines, lead market research to assess competitor contracts and possess excellent knowledge of the many quantitative analyses required in a sourcing process.Key responsibilities:SourcingCollect and analyze the key cost drivers, market dynamics and issues, areas of innovation, and alternative suppliers for high-risk area(s) with few alternatives and high costs to change, in consultation with relevant functions to provide solid market information for decision-making.BuyingIdentify, select, and negotiate with vendors on product selection, assortment, and price for a medium to large category of products, merchandise, or services.Contract ManagementManage a portfolio of contracts and negotiate service-level agreements. Will also plan, coordinate, and supervise activities relating to major contracts. Identify requirements and prepare specifications for existing and new contracts. Make recommendations for the continuation or termination of existing contracts.Supplier ManagementMonitor, review, and highlight any gaps in the performance of a portfolio of suppliers to recommend and ensure delivery of improvements by suppliers or to renegotiate or change contract/supplier.Bid SolicitationGather and report on information related to the analysis of the bid solicitation, including request for proposal (RFP) and request for tender (RFT) project requirements and the feasibility of these requirements for the organization.AdministrationDevelop a range of administrative process within the SCM function and provide administrative support to allow for efficient running of the SCM department. This includes running tender processing and other sourcing events.Bid SolicitationGather information and resources, and draft and complete standard requests for bid solicitation requests for proposal (RFP) and requests for tender (RFT) on the requester side.Bid Solicitation/Request for Proposal/Tender EvaluationSpecify and lead the delivery of standard/complex tender evaluation processes, ensure the application of the correct evaluation criteria and selection methodology, manage the prioritization of the bid solicitation requests for proposal (RFP) and requests for tender (RFT), and coordinate the communication to stakeholders.Request for Bid Solicitation/Proposal/Tender Response | SALES | GENERALGather information and resources and draft and complete proposals in response to the most-complex bid solicitations, request for proposal, and request for tender to create the best chance of being awarded the contract. May lead a team to develop tenders/proposals and fulfill all process requirements (in terms of deadlines, documentation, etc.) in response to bid solicitations, request for proposal, and request for tender.Data Collection and AnalysisUse data from a wide range of sources to analyze key themes and identify possible impacts on the business.Document PreparationPrepare routine letters, memoranda, reports, and similar documents following detailed instruction. This is likely to involve using the full range of functions within standard office software.Requirements:General EducationMinimum Requirement

  • Quantity Surveying Qualification Ideal Build Environment (advantageous)
  • A bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Business, or a related field.
Experience
  • 2-3 years Supply Chain Management or CIPS (Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply) Level 4 in either construction or property industry
  • Sound Knowledge of all relevant statutory requirements In-depth knowledge of all BBBEE legislation and Regulations that affect procurement spend.
  • Good understanding of negotiation techniques.
  • Sound knowledge of Supply Management processes and systems.
  • Understanding of technical and operational requirements of a business including capital requirements.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft F&O will be an added advantage.
Managerial Experience
  • Experience of planning and managing resources to deliver predetermined objectives as specified by more senior managers (Over 3 years to 6 years)
  • Knowledge of MS Dynamics will be advantageous.
  • A sound knowledge and experience on MDA.
