RINA is seeking qualified Site Manager/coordinator to perform Wind and Solar Projects management /Coordination.

Location: South Africa

ROLES DESCRIPTIONS

Site Manager

Key tasks include:

  • supervising and overseeing the direction of the project (or a cluster of projects), ensuring that the client's specifications and requirements are met, reviewing progress and liaising with cost controller and contract management to monitor costs xe2x80xa2 liaising with other construction professionals and, sometimes, members of the public
  • coordinating and supervising construction contractors and site team
  • selecting tools and materials
  • Conducting safety inspections and ensuring construction and site safety protocols are met
  • checking and preparing site reports, verifying designs and drawings
  • Managing quality control procedures
  • Efficient in problem solving and risk mitigation
  • assessing and minimizing risk
  • helping to negotiating contracts and securing permits and licenses
  • Ensuring, with support of Safety and Environment Manager, the implementation of safety and hygiene provisions in the workplace and environmental protection, in compliance with local legislation.
  • Coordinating OWNER personnel on site and C&SC during the execution of construction and assembly activities, evaluating the construction techniques and detailed construction programmes issued by Suppliers/C&SC ensuring their compliance with the Construction Time-schedule.
  • Performing reporting activities, detailing site works progress activities and criticalities in terms of schedule and budget.
  • Managing relations and meetings at a site level with representative of Suppliers and C&SC, keeping the Site Manager informed.
  • In case of measurement contracts, with the support of site Supervision Service, evaluate quantities of materials and components used on site and related costs, providing the forecast to completion on monthly basis.
  • Assure the correct implementation of Quality Control Plan related to construction activities, with the support of Quality
  • Control Service, Site Discipline Supervision Services and Operational Excellence Engineer.
Key skills for site managers
  • Good knowledge of building methods and regulations
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and federal, state, and local legal requirements as they apply to construction activities.
  • Knowledge of engineered systems.
  • Knowledge of quality control and quality assurance means, methods and programs.
  • Understanding of power plant construction and operation means, methods and programs.
  • Knowledge on Electrical Distribution and Control Systems.
  • Strong leadership and team building skills with ability to supervise, direct and delegate to large construction team and manage large projects.
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Skilled in strategy development with ability to anticipate, analyze, articulate and solve potential problems related to project planning, execution and management.
  • Capability to work within a matrix structure.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and cooperate effectively with multidisciplinary and multinational teams, with contractors and others involved in construction projects.
  • Aptitude to switch to different technologies (Wind, Solar)
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word and Power Point)
  • Ability in working within multidisciplinary and multicultural teams.
Essential functionsduties:

xe2x96xaa Adhere to and enforce company policies, procedures and project documents, including the Stop Work Authority, the Brother's Keeper and the Structured Feedback.

xe2x96xaa Implement and enforce safety and environmental requirements during project execution, according to company, local and federal rules and regulations.

xe2x96xaa Reviews and verifies the completeness and constructability of all documentation including engineering drawings, specifications, design documents and contracts to ensure compliance standards are met in design and permit requirements throughout the pre-construction and construction phase.

xe2x96xaa Collaborate and provide input in pre-construction meetings with Engineering, Contract Management, Planning and Control and Health Safety Environmental and Quality.

xe2x96xaa Manage handover of work site to contractor(s) for logistical planning of construction activities.

xe2x96xaa Manage and lead site construction team in the execution of contractor project activities to evaluate construction techniques in terms of meeting contract, schedules, costs, quality, safety and regulatory requirements; recommend corrective actions to ensure the project remains within the critical path. Responsible for all activities during the construction phase.

xe2x96xaa Continually inspect construction site to ensure safe working environment is maintained and relay Stop Work Authority.

SITE COORDINATOR Essential functionsduties:
  • Ensuring, with support of Health, Safety and Environment Manager, the implementation of safety and hygiene provisions in the workplace and environmental protection, in compliance with local legislation.
  • Coordinating OWNER personnel on site and C&SC during the execution of construction and assembly activities, evaluating the construction techniques and detailed construction programmes issued by Suppliers/C&SC ensuring their compliance with the Construction Time-schedule.
  • Performing reporting activities, detailing site works progress activities and criticalities in terms of schedule and budget.
  • Managing relations and meetings at a site level with representative of Suppliers and C&SC, keeping the Site Manager informed.
  • In case of measurement contracts, with the support of site Supervision Service, evaluate quantities of materials and components used on site and related costs, providing the forecast to completion on monthly basis.
  • Assure the correct implementation of Quality Control Plan related to construction activities, with the support of Quality
  • Supporting the Site Manager and Commissioning Manager on management of construction activities: technical aspects, planning and organization, meetings, reporting.
  • Supporting the Site Manager for operative contract management.
  • Supporting the Site Manager in accountability recording for payments release (SAP).
  • Supporting the Site Manager and Commissioning Manager on reporting activity.
  • Updating the data base of works assignments and the construction activities schedule.
  • Ensuring management of back office activities.
  • Supporting the Site Manager on planning the resources on site.
  • Supporting the Site Manager and the Commissioning Manager in the collection of documentation from site to be submitted to Project Manager for Hand Over to Operation & Maintenance.

Requirements for site managers and coordinators:

xe2x96xaa BS Degree in Civil/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical diploma.

xe2x96xaa Cumulative experience of at least 10 years in this role or equivalent discipline technical diploma

xe2x96xaa Valid Driver's License.

xe2x96xaa In depth knowledge of industrial construction practices, power plant construction activities, planning, contract management, environmental and safety requirements.

xe2x96xaa Proficiency in coordinating C&SCs and in monitoring their performances in the areas safety, quality, environmental compliance, schedule and costs; comprehensive understanding of contract administration and construction risk management.

xe2x96xaa Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, MS Project).

xe2x96xaa Knowledge of AutoCAD.

xe2x96xaa Knowledge of local codes and standard about main technical aspects of civil constructions, electrical standards, constructions safety, environmental, authorizations by local Authorities in their latest and most updated version.

xe2x96xaa Good written and verbal communication skills in English and local Country language.

xe2x96xaa Possibility to work during day/ night shift (including weekends).

xe2x96xaa Extensive travel with temporary relocation to construction sites for 6- 24 months durations
