Our client in the Renewable Energy industry is currently looking for a Shipping Manager, in Sandton.
Responsibilities:
To manage the administration processes required in the importation, movement and tracking of imported merchandise and/or material in compliance with Local Regulations.
Take commercial accountability for obtaining required quotes and insurance cover where required.
Keep up to date with the exchange rates and inform CFO accordingly.
Adhere to specified standards, policies, practices, and procedures.
Use appropriate tools to conduct work, and ensure quality, accuracy, and completeness thereof.
Maintain a neat, clean, and organised work area.
Identify and recommend areas/ ways to improve processes.
Calculate duties, tariffs, price conversions, weight, and volume of the merchandise to be imported from foreign destinations, EPR.
Monitor and complete paperwork and monetary transactions associated with international imports in a timely manner and in line with lead time requirements.
Ensure all pricing structures are updated according to new exchange rates.
Ensure that the shipment adheres to customs regulations and coordinate with shipping and customs agents for clearance on delivery.
Deal with quotes from prospective shippers.
Handle claims with insurance companies if any shipment problems happen to occur.
Provide efficient delivery logistics information through data management.
Compute international fees for each shipment and keep track of shipment payments.
Adhere to specified standards, policies, practices and procedures as they pertain to the completion of import documentation, carrier and route assignments, and tracking of shipments; and communicate with suppliers and logistics companies in respect to the package's progress.
Take personal responsibility for the cleanliness and appearance of the assigned workspace.
Submit a weekly goods and transit report to management.
Ensure that the customers goods are delivered using the correct mode of transport.
Requirements:
3 - 5 years' experience in Imports and Exports Management.
Supply Chain/Logistics Qualification or Clearing and Forwarding Certificate.
