We currently have a vacancy for an Arms Control Compliance and Shipping Manager. This opportunity requires a highly motivated team player with excellent management and leadership skills, organizational skills, initiative and interpersonal skills, as well as a relentless drive to ensure commitments are kept. This position will be accountable for Compliance Control and Shipping.

Your role

NCAC (National Conventional Arms Control) - Uphold all NCACC permit requirements through DCAC to ensure compliance in terms of the National Conventional Arms Control Act no 41 of 2002 as amended as well as applicable regulations.

Establish and maintain sound relationships with permit authorities at high level.

Manage and maintain Export Control Management System (IFS) to administer all applications, submission, specific permit conditions and storing of all supporting documentation related to freight forwarding and permits in accordance with best business practices. Update and provide required management reports as and when required

Implement and maintain an arms control compliance program to ensure compliance to legal regulations and company policies

Establish and maintain internal audit and risk program to ensure early detection of any risks that could jeopardize operational functionality in the organization.

Oversee and maintain an effective export classification process and system in order to ensure compliance to all international export classifications schemes/requirements and to provide accurate Export Control Classification Declarations (ECCD) to requesting parties.

Manage shipping and freight forwarding process to ensure most cost effective and efficient execution of deliveries with the least risk and shortest TAT for the organization into delivery milestones.

Establish and maintain a detailed SLA and professional relationship with appointed freight forwarders to manage and resolve issues regarding shipping challenges without delay.

Uphold certification with Civil Aviation Authorities pertaining to the requirements for registration as xe2x80x9cKnown Consignorxe2x80x9d into Part 108 of the Civil Aviation Regulations

Liaise with various government departments to ensure that all international trade compliance requirements are adhered to (DTI, DIRCO, SACCI, SARS)

Expedite and endorse all export related Undertakings, Affidavits, Letters of Authority and declarations as and when required

Provide guidance and direction to SGD management in all arms control compliance matters as and when required

Drive and maintain good relationships and effective communications to ensure optimum service with all relevant stakeholders

Ensure regular interaction and feedback with internal clients concerning status of shipments, permits and guidance required.

Implement and maintain annual arms control compliance awareness and training program throughout the organization

Collaborate with warehouse, purchasing and other managers to optimize processes

Line management function for the Export Control & Shipping Department

Manage and maintain annual budgets for the Compliance and Shipping department

Your profile

Knowledge and Skills Required:

6 - 8 years' experience in Shipping/Compliance management

Financial Management, budgeting & reporting

Extensive knowledge and interpretation skills applicable legislation and regulations

Desired Skills:

Solid knowledge of administrative processes required for export compliance management

Legal interpretation of related documents

Proven experience as a Compliance & Shipping Manager

Excellent knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel)

Qualification:

Degree in SCM/Procurement/Law or Logistics
