Short Description / Purpose of Job

The purpose of this position is to Lead Process Safety strategy implementation for Enaex Africa based on Enaex Corporate Safety Management System, CAIA Responsible Care Process Safety Management and any Internationally Recognized Process Safety Management Standards. In addition managing the team occupational safety in your respective area.

• Implementation and maintenance of prescribed process safety management programs
• The evaluation of process operations and design through risk assessments to ensure minimization of accidents, incidents, and events that harm people, property, or the environment.
• The facilitation of process various process safety processes including hazard and operability analysis/studies, auditing, process safety information, process related management of change and technical knowledge to support the business.
• The Implementation and enablement of process safety strategy to meet SHE performance goals for Enaex Africa.
• Ensure that the root causes of process safety incidents determined by using the prescribed industry investigation methodology and ensure that learnings are shared across the business.
• Provide specialized process safety awareness training to the business.

Recruitment Description / Key Accountabilities

Business Results

Facilitate PHA and ad hoc risk assessments using methodologies such as HAZOP, PHR, LOPA, SIL, LOC, FEI, CEI, Fault Tree, Human Factors, Inherent Safer Design, Explosion modelling and Risk Ranking.
Facilitate/participate in PSSRs, incident investigations and assist in compiling reports, lessons learned and next steps.
Identify potential or actual changes, assess their effects and improve risk management using hierarchy of controls.
Assist operations regarding the technical aspects of PSM and clarify PSM standards and elements when required.
Advise on Safety Case technique info to support regulatory permitting and authorizations where applicable.
Provide input in the design, development, maintenance of the PSM system.
Provide assurance that the PHA information is used in operation of the other PSM elements.
Develop and maintain plant specific PSM procedures and related checklists where applicable
Drive operational hub PSM initiatives, and plant rollout, embedding of the PSM system.
Conduct MHI studies where applicable, analyze MHI regulations and ensure compliance by operational hubs.

Advise on land use/spatial planning for operational areas based on the relevant studies.
Identify potential process, asset features that could escalate emergency events into major incidents.
Carry out PSM stand-by duties, co-ordinate existing risk assessment studies if required.
Utilize lessons learnt to advise management to avoid repeat events.
Utilize consequence modelling, probability analysis to develop solutions.
Evaluate the quality of previous risk studies and advise accordingly.

Leadership and Values

Support and monitor the identification of process of PSCE for preventative maintenance purposes.
Utilize a FER-SI or other prescribed tools to derive fire, explosion and toxic index.
Develop knowledge relating to the field of work, personal mastery in technical skills application.
Plan and meet project management objectives in technical, professional and specialized areas of work.
Conduct PSM audits and plant inspections to assure the effectiveness of actions taken in response to process safety activities.
Assist management in preparation for 3rd party audits and insurance engineers visits by collecting info, organizing, planning, tracking follow up.
Research, propose and assist in the implementation of best practice and fit for purpose solutions to meet changing bus and work requirements.
Gather and analyze data on risk based analysis e.g. PHA, MHI reports, observations, audits, incidents, and advise management on high process safety risks through safety Improvement plan.
Assist snr managers to be better PSM leaders.

Build and maintain stakeholder relationships on all levels.
Liaise with accredited engineering facilities regarding process projects.
Liaise with neighboring communities to manage potential major incident escalation scenarios.
Demonstrate influential relationships with manager, peers, company leaders.
Attend sharing and networking activities within the group and external forums as requested.
Deliver knowledge based process safety training as an SME and share expertise.
Participate in process safety culture transformation programs and other initiatives as an element SME.
Audit and make recommendations on permit to work system to improve efficiency.
Participate in the development and revision of PSM standards, procedures, specs and guidelines through researching, benchmarking, and interpreting technical, legal info and best practices.

Formal Education:

University bachelorxe2x80x99s degree in chemical engineering OR National diploma Chemical Engineering combined with National Diploma in Explosives Safety Management.

Min Experience:

10 years in the Chemicals/ Explosives Manufacturing Industries with at least 5 years in Process Safety Management
