The core responsibilities of the position include:
Coordinate and implement Safety, Health, Environmental management systems in line with company standards and legal requirements
Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory and ISO standards through audits, inspections and monitoring
Facilitate incident investigations, root cause analysis and ensure corrective and preventive actions are closed out
Drive continuous improvement initiatives in SHE performance across the department
Support line management in enforcing compliance and SHE best practices on the shop floor
Plan and coordinate SHE training, awareness and induction programmes for employees and contractors
Compile accurate reports on SHE performance, including leading and lagging indicators
Monitor risk assessments and safe operating procedures, ensuring they are up to date and effectively implemented
Promote a culture of proactive SHE ownership at all levels within the department
The requirements of the position include:
Minimum requirement is a National Certificate or Diploma in Safety, Environmental Management or a related field
At least three years' experience in a manufacturing or heavy industry environment
At least five years' experience in a manufacturing or heavy industry environment
Proven knowledge and application of ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 standards
Experience in conducting audits, risk assessments and incident investigations
Excellent report writing, communication and presentation skills
High level of accuracy, attention to detail and strong problem-solving ability
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Ability to work independently, under pressure and outside of normal working hours as required
Good interpersonal and Industrial Relations skills with the ability to influence at all levels
