Job Description

The core responsibilities of the position include:

• Coordinate and implement Safety, Health, Environmental management systems in line with company standards and legal requirements

• Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory and ISO standards through audits, inspections and monitoring

• Facilitate incident investigations, root cause analysis and ensure corrective and preventive actions are closed out

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives in SHE performance across the department

• Support line management in enforcing compliance and SHE best practices on the shop floor

• Plan and coordinate SHE training, awareness and induction programmes for employees and contractors

• Compile accurate reports on SHE performance, including leading and lagging indicators

• Monitor risk assessments and safe operating procedures, ensuring they are up to date and effectively implemented

• Promote a culture of proactive SHE ownership at all levels within the department

The requirements of the position include:

• Minimum requirement is a National Certificate or Diploma in Safety, Environmental Management or a related field

• At least three years' experience in a manufacturing or heavy industry environment

• At least five years' experience in a manufacturing or heavy industry environment

• Proven knowledge and application of ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 standards

• Experience in conducting audits, risk assessments and incident investigations

• Excellent report writing, communication and presentation skills

• High level of accuracy, attention to detail and strong problem-solving ability

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

• Ability to work independently, under pressure and outside of normal working hours as required

• Good interpersonal and Industrial Relations skills with the ability to influence at all levels
