Job Description

This is a contract role for a Windows Server Engineer located on-site in Centurion.

The Windows Server Engineer will be responsible for the migration to Windows Server 2022. . Collaboration with team members and adherence to best practices for server migration will be integral to this role.

Qualifications



Must have VM/Oneview experience Server qualified - HPE or server 2019 etc Dependable have a positive mindset Must be versed in IPU and server reloads Expertise in Troubleshooting and providing effective solutions for server-related issues Proficiency in Server Administration, including configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of Windows servers Experience in providing Technical Support to resolve technical and system queries effectively Knowledge of Patch Management to ensure servers are up-to-date and secure Strong understanding and experience with Operating Systems, particularly Microsoft Windows Server Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills Relevant certifications (such as Microsoft Certified: Windows Server) are a strong advantage Ability to work on-site in Centurion and adapt to dynamic IT environments with being comfortable with working afterhours or overtime when required.

Practical Hands-On Experience - not limited to



Successfully completed at least 2-3 production migrations from 2016/2019 ? 2022 Built and managed a Server 2022 lab (on-prem or nested in Azure) Used Storage Migration Service in production Performed rolling cluster OS upgrades on Failover Clusters Implemented Secured-core servers and measured performance impact Migrated RDS farms or RemoteApp environments to 2022 Specific beneficial experience/knowledgeIn-place upgrade vs. clean install decisionsKnowing when in-place upgrade is supported (2016?2022 and 2019?2022 are supported) and when it's safer to migrate roles or rebuildStorage Migration Service (SMS)Hands-on with migrating File Servers, shares, permissions, and SMB settings cut-over with zero downtimeActive DirectoryForest/domain functional level upgrades, schema extensions for 2022, deprecated features removal (NTFRS, WINS, etc.)Hyper-VLive Migration between 2016/2019 and 2022 clusters, upgrading cluster functional level, new features (vTPM, Secure Boot for Gen2 VMs, DDA, etc.)Failover ClusteringRolling cluster OS upgrades (2019?2022 is very smooth), Cluster-Aware Updating (CAU), Storage Spaces Direct (S2D) upgradesSecurity & ComplianceSecured-core server, DRTM, HVCI, Credential Guard, new SMB signing/encryption defaults, TLS 1.3, Kerberos armoringPowerShell & AutomationDeep PowerShell 7.x experience, Desired State Configuration (DSC), PowerShell Direct, Just Enough Administration (JEA)Backup & RecoveryExperience with Windows Server Backup, Azure Backup Server, or 3rd-party tools that support Server 2022 agentsNetworkingExperience with SDN (if using it), new NIC Teaming behaviors, Switch Embedded Teaming (SET), SMB over QUIC (very useful for branch offices)Azure Stack HCI (optional but huge plus)If the org is moving to HCI, knowing how Server 2022 becomes Azure Stack HCI 22H2/23H2 is extremely valuable
