Job Description

We are looking for a skilled and proactive

Server Engineer

to join our IT Infrastructure team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of physical and virtual servers in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.

You'll play a vital role in ensuring the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of IT infrastructure supporting business applications, systems, and communication platforms.

Red Hat RHCSA

(for Linux-heavy environments)

Azure Administrator Associate

AWS SysOps Administrator

ITIL v4 Foundation

Security+

CISSP

(advantageous) Minimum of

3-5 years' experience

in server administration or infrastructure support. Strong knowledge of

Windows Server (2016/2019/2022)

and

Linux (CentOS, Ubuntu, RHEL)

. Experience with

virtualization platforms

(VMware vSphere, Hyper-V). Understanding of

networking concepts

(TCP/IP, firewalls, VLANs). Familiarity with backup/recovery tools (e.g.,

Veeam

,

Commvault

,

Acronis

). Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills. Ability to create and maintain PowerShell/bash scripts for automation.

Key Responsibilities:

Install, configure, and maintain

Windows/Linux physical and virtual servers

(VMware, Hyper-V). Monitor system performance, conduct health checks, and perform capacity planning. Perform

incident response and root cause analysis

on server and infrastructure outages. Implement and manage

data backups, disaster recovery, and failover systems

. Ensure

security compliance

through patch management, access control, and system hardening. Collaborate with other teams to support deployment of new apps, services, and features. Maintain and update documentation including SOPs, diagrams, and configurations. Provide

2nd/3rd line support

for escalated server and infrastructure issues. Manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, GPO, and user permission structures. Assist in

cloud integration

(Azure/AWS/GCP) and hybrid IT setups. Strong communication and interpersonal skills Analytical mindset with attention to detail Excellent time and priority management Ability to work independently and collaboratively in high-pressure situations

Additional Requirements:

Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transport (if site work is expected) Willingness to participate in after-hours support and maintenance windows South African citizenship
