Job Description

Our client, a leading IPP in the renewable energy sector, is seeking a Senior Wind Energy Development Manager to join their dynamic team in Cape Town. This pivotal role involves leading the origination and early-stage development of utility-scale wind energy projects, from site identification through to financial close readiness. You will be responsible for managing multidisciplinary teams and engaging with key stakeholders to drive project value.
Key Responsibilities Include:

• Leading the identification, screening, and securing of wind development sites, including land agreements and resource validation.
• Overseeing the preparation of development budgets, schedules, and risk assessments.
• Driving permitting strategy and managing environmental and regulatory approval processes.
• Coordinating internal inputs across engineering, grid, legal, and finance to progress development milestones.
• Managing third-party consultants and engaging with government entities, grid operators, and landowners.
• Supporting commercial structuring, including offtake discussions, JV structuring, and bid preparation.

Requirements:

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Energy Systems, or a related field.
• 6+ years of experience in renewable energy, with at least 3 years specifically in wind project development.
• Proven track record of taking wind projects through early-stage development to financial close or construction.
• Deep understanding of wind project permitting, grid connection, and yield assessment.
• Strong leadership, project management, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
