Job Description


ROLE PURPOSE

A vacancy exists for a Senior Technical Analyst Billing and Revenue Management in the REVENUE ASSURANCE BILLING COE department at our Vodacom Midrand Client. The incumbent will form part of the team that is responsible for the day-to-day revenue assurance operational activities relating to assessing revenue processes and procedures related risks and the control environment relating to critical business processes in order to identify and prevent revenue leakage and minimize loss. Advanced SQL scripting and coding will be an integral part of the position, with much focus on data interpretation, analysis, and reporting presentation. Investigations and leakage prevention standards will be of utmost importance in this role.

ROLE REQUIREMENT

  • Assess, align, process and follow-through on all Specified Customer Revenue Assurance Activities
  • Case Manager Roles and Responsibilities in respect of Revenue Assurance

  • Ownership of requirements gathering and analysis
Assume responsibility for the following:
  • Effectively manage identified revenue leakage areas, assist business in closing these areas, recovering revenue loss and eliminate future leakage by implementing best practice controls.
  • Consistent management of various control points, to ensure that they are effectively implemented, executed and operational within the different business structures.
  • Identify and define process requirements necessary to control and resolve revenue leakage/opportunities.
  • Monitor & Act on alarms generated in RA & escalated by RA Practitioners
  • Perform control of all revenue streams to guarantee timely, complete and correct charging of the services provided (reconciliations related to various billing platforms, switch data, and customer databases).
  • Perform data analysis of Revenue Assurance controls, quantify and communicate the impact/risk of issues.
Validate accuracy and completeness of data from all source systems, control execution as per the agreed schedule and identify exceptions, issues and incidents.

Perform root cause analysis of identified issues to find out the exact cause of mismatch and drive resolution cross-functionally within the business.

Ensure cross-departmental co-ordination of RA activities and prompt escalation of incidents

Analyse and follow up on RA incidents until resolution as well as definition of measures to prevent occurrence of such error scenarios in the future.

Monitor all revenue streams and identify weak process areas that may lead to leakage and propose revenue maximization strategies.

Prepare presentation material denoting trending, key indicators and performance that have impact on revenue leakages.

Perform extensive data extraction, data manipulation and analysis of source data and Assurance controls
  • Quantify and effectively communicate the impact/risk of issues
  • Validate accuracy and completeness of data from all source systems, execute controls and identify exceptions, issues and incidents
  • Source to target mapping support
  • Analyse Data models and identify high risk areas & gaps
  • Working with IT Data Enablement teams to build data models
  • Developing scripts to support reporting requirements and to resolve Billing queries
  • Developing scripts to support reconciliations and investigations
  • Perform root cause analysis of identified issues to find out the exact cause of mismatches, and drive resolution within the business
  • Document and present analysis findings/outcomes
  • Resolution of ad-hoc data business queries
  • To monitor and correct data incongruences that could directly impact the quality and accuracy of billing and reporting processes
  • Working with Terradata and ORACLE SQL
  • Support the Dev Ops teams in the automation of solutions and the underlying assurance controls
  • Provide guidance and technical direction to team members where necessary
  • Provide input to the business requirements for the design of solutions

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
  • Matric
  • Post graduate qualification in Finance or IT related field
Essential
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of Telecommunications business operations and in-depth technical (network & systems) capabilities.
  • SQL Advanced Certification and experience
  • Knowledge and experience of RA / BA Operations with Telecom Operator
  • Experience in financial and/or operational auditing / investigations methodologies and tools
  • Experience in business process analysis, modelling and re-engineering
  • Knowledge of IT or system audit and data analysis experience
  • Siebel and other SRM related systems experience
Desired:
  • Strong analytical and technical abilities.
