Role purpose

The main objective of the Senior Specialist in MOCN Optimization is to orchestrate strategic network tactics and strategies with a focus on enhancing end user experience and Radio Access Network (RAN) efficiency, performance & strategy evolution in a MOCN environment. This role plays a pivotal part in driving and executing various optimisation activities, stakeholder engagements aimed at streamlining MOCN experience with the aim of achieving improved network quality. The core functional tasks, as outlined in the job description, centre around enhancing end user experience on LTE using contemporary approaches and the best global practices, primarily within the RAN domain.

Your responsibilities will include

Design, document, and implement features and parameter trials for enhanced network performance with managed services partners.
Continuously evaluate MOCN RAN strategies, enhancing efficiency through parameter analysis and collaboration with stakeholders.
Ensure adoption of global best practices and adapt them where applicable for optimal system performance within South Africa
Lead MOCN RAN vendor management for strategy, feature development, and deployment, leveraging data sources and optimization expertise.
Develop data-driven analytics capacity for strategic MOCN RAN optimization using RAP paradigms in R/RStudio
Fulfil technical obligations with MOCN partners, offering collaborative technical expertise.
Formulate tactical solutions for business challenges in a MOCN regime, collaborate on cross-technology issue resolution & execute partner requests, improving network performance.
Provide high-level technical insights to the C-Suite, whilst also preparing impactful C-level presentations, that provide crystal clear illumination on MOCN technical challenges & strategic topics
Automate processes using R Scripting to improve operational efficiency.

The ideal candidate for this role willl have

Technical / Professional Qualifications:

3-year degree/diploma electrical engineering or telecommunications, equivalent(minimum) or higher

Core competencies, knowledge, and experience:

5-8 years' work experience in telecoms industry
Minimum of 5 years working experience within Radio Planning and Optimisation (Essential), with some experience in strategic network optimisation a plus
Minimum of 5 years relevant 2G/3G/4G and 5G experience (inclusive of at least 3 years LTE experience) is essential, with 5G knowledge as an advantage
Data Analytics competence with R is essential & a must, coupled with a strong understanding of 3GPP protocols and procedures
Strong knowledge of both Huawei and Nokia RAN solutions, features, parameters, and roadmaps is essential
