Manage and ensure the stability, security, and continuous improvement of client firewalls (physical or virtual)
using multiple OEM's and management platforms for centralized, cloud-delivered visibility, AIOps-driven insights, configuration governance, and reporting,
policy lifecycle management, threat-prevention tuning, incident response, automation, and compliance reporting to ensure secure, resilient, and auditable network perimeters.
High-Level Accountabilities
Ensure all firewalls are operating on the latest stable and vendor-recommended software versions.
Apply patches promptly in the event of known vulnerabilities.
Fulfil requests to add, remove, or modify security rules (IMACD's) e.g. process and implement whitelisting or blocking requests.
Conduct bi-monthly firewall rule reviews (Threat prevention & Tuning), including optimisation and cleanup (Policy Hygiene & Rulebase lifecycle management).
Implement and manage any change requests involving firewall configuration or policy adjustments, initiated via (a) Service Request (b) Project or (c) SIP
Perform troubleshooting for firewall and network-related incidents, aligned to Incident severity (P4 to P1).
Maintaining the performance and security posture of critical network security appliances by delivering prompt updates, and efficient issue resolution.
Ensuring All tickets (IMACD) are updated in the Service Desk Tool, and adheres to the service SLA.
Ensuring BPA (Best Practice Adoption) per client firewall
Monthly FW assurance reporting (selected clients)
Deploy new Virtual / Physical firewalls
Participate in DR exercise
Weekly Operational check-in session
Bi-Monthly client check-in sessions (selected clients)
Monthly BPA / Assurance reporting and review
Minimum Qualifications and Certifications
Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity. Related work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education in some cases. Preferred Industry certifications
PCCSA - Palo Alto Networks Certified Cybersecurity Associate (Entry-level)
PCNSA - Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Administrator (Intermediate; minimum standard for most roles)
PCNSE - Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (Strongly preferred for mid to senior-level roles)
Strata Cloud Manager / AIOps & Best Practice Assessment training or micro-certification
3-5 years managing enterprise firewalls; 2+ years specifically on Palo Alto (or equivalent senior-level experience).
Proven practical experience with Panorama, HA configurations, policy management / migration, SSL decryption, GlobalProtect, and cloud-delivered firewalls.
Proven practical experience and understanding of firewall rules/policies, NAT/Security profiles, User-ID, App-ID, and Content-ID
Proven practical experience with Strata Cloud Manager (multi-tenant setup, AIOps dashboards, best-practice checks, configuration governance, role-based access).
Technical Skills:
Strong TCP/IP, routing (BGP/OSPF), NAT, VPN (IPSec/SSL), DHCP, DNS fundamentals.
Log analysis, packet capture (pcap), and troubleshooting methodologies.
Familiarity with SIEM/SOAR platforms
Secure configuration baselines, BPA, compliance frameworks.
