Job Description

Main purpose of the job:

• To lead Public Health research related to NCD Prevention

Location:

• The School of Public Health, Parktown, Johannesburg

Key performance areas:

• Identify novel research methods and ideas
• Attract research funding by identifying and applying for research grants in line with the PRICELESS research strategy
• Publish research in high-impact peer-reviewed journals, and report and present findings to stakeholders, the PRICELESS team, and other groups including the media
• Manage research projects from inception to completion
• Manage and mentor junior researchers
• Supervise students (Masters and PhD candidates)
• Uphold the values of PRICELESS

Required minimum education and training:

• PhD in Public Health or related discipline
• 4 years of Post-doc experience

Required minimum work experience:

• Minimum of 4 years of working experience in a Research Environment

Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities:

• Interest in health and equity in South Africa
• Experience in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies
• Published articles in peer-reviewed journals
• Strong writing and presentation skills
• Good conceptualization skills
• Experience in teaching and student supervision
• Attention to detail
• Flexible and adaptive with a positive approach to taking on several duties
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
