To lead Health Economics and Health Financing research, and to lecture on the Masters in Public Health (MPH) Programme and supervise students (Masters and PhD candidates)
Location:
The School of Public Health, Parktown, Johannesburg
Key performance areas:
Lead health economics and health financing projects from inception to completion
Attract research funding by identifying and applying for research grants in line with the PRICELESS research strategy
Publish research in high-impact peer-reviewed journals, and report and present findings to stakeholders, the PRICELESS team and other groups
Manage and mentor junior researchers
Teach on the Wits Masters in Public Health (MPH) Programme, and other courses from time to time, and supervise students (Masters and PhD candidates)
Uphold the values of PRICELESS
Required minimum education and training:
PhD in Economics/Health Economics
3 years of Post-doc experience
Required minimum work experience:
Minimum of 3 years working experience in a Research environment
Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities:
Strong communication skills
Experience with applied economic and programme evaluation research methods
Experience with statistical software packages (i.e. STATA and R)
Interest in health and equity in South Africa. Experience in decision analytical modelling
Published articles in peer-reviewed journals. Strong writing and presentation skills
Good conceptualization skills
Experience in teaching and student supervision
Attention to detail
Flexible and adaptive with a positive approach to taking on several duties
Able to work independently and as part of a team
