Job Description


KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

  • Credit Underwriting Parameters
  • Custodian of SA Credit Policy and processes.
  • Develop and adjust FICA / Know Your Customer policy and procedure, including identification, fraud detection and credit vetting, and vary acceptance criteria based on empirical results.
  • Ensure policy and procedures are affected through the internal, TransUnion credit vetting and Miles leasing systems.
  • Management of credit scorecards and their performance in accurately predicting portfolio bad debt, utilising software tools and reporting as necessary to make recommendations for credit policy decisions.
  • Making recommendations in all areas of credit and operational risk management as a leading member of the RV, Pricing, Credit and Risk Committee, and representing this division for South Africa, as appropriate, both internally and externally from a risk management perspective.
  • Maintain an appropriate level of knowledge and competence in the finance and insurance products appropriate to the role, in accordance with regulatory requirements in South Africa.
  • Credit Vetting and Facility Motivation
  • To hold and exercise underwriting authority, responsible as the primary route for underwriting referrals, ensuring credit policy and parameters are strictly and correctly applied to ensure a consistent approach to credit underwriting decision-making.
  • Financial analysis of customer financials in order to reach credit facility decision.
  • Develop motivation for the approval of new and renewal of credit facilities for all B2B customers for approval within the Approvals Matrix.
  • Managing the fraud prevention and credit vetting process, and stakeholders therein, including the external credit bureau and maintaining daily contact and close collaboration
  • Service Levels
  • Responsibility for the management of performance against published service standards in terms of response times and other commitments.
  • Liaising with dealers and customers, as appropriate, displaying a customer first service focus in the resolution of disputes as necessary. This also extends to communication with field operations.
  • Invoicing & Statements
  • Overall responsibility for the SA Accounts Receivable processes and status. Manage processes to send invoices and statements to all Customers within agreed timeframes.
  • Managing the Miles leasing system invoice and statement process ensuring that all financial and related invoice and statement documents are delivered to customers within agreed timeframes.
  • Provide cash flow forecasts to Finance Division on a weekly basis with accuracy of at least 95%.
  • Resolve customer and other queries within 2 business days of receipt.
  • Overall responsibility for Accounts Receivable ledger in respect of collections, ageing, overdues, and other status indicators.
  • Report status of accounts receivable book weekly and monthly.
  • Manual and Electronic Collections
  • Collect amounts due from customers using DebiCheck, Debit Order and EFT systems provided through banking service provider.
  • Managing the manual and electronic collections process (DebiCheck, Debit Order, Electronic Funds Transfer), ensuring the files are produced by the Miles leasing system and submitted on time to the collecting bank, and stakeholders therein, maintaining daily contact and close collaboration.
  • Ensure that dishonoured debit orders and EFTs are processed on the Miles leasing system within the same business day and qualifying transactions are resubmitted for collection in the appropriate collection window.
  • Cooperate closely with the Accountant to ensure that all collections and reversals are recorded appropriately in the accounting records, and that all reconciling items between Miles, bank statements and SAP are cleared within 24 hours.
  • Dunning and Legal Collections
  • Refer overdue, uncollected amounts, and repossessions to selected dunning and legal services agent.
  • Managing the outsourced dunning and legal services provider in terms of the service level agreement, maintaining daily contact and close collaboration.
  • Credit Provisioning
  • Manage credit provisioning policy and calculations on a monthly basis providing input to Senior Management for specific and general bad debt provision levels and reporting thereof in accordance with relevant accounting rules
  • Provide input to and prepare board document for the Residual Value, Pricing, Credit and Risk Committee meeting.
  • Ensure that all required reports, tables, analyses, graphs and commentary are accurate, informative and submitted for inclusion in the Product Residual Value, Pricing, Credit and Risk Committee meeting papers within the published timeframes.
  • Take minutes of the Product Residual Value, Pricing, Credit and Risk Committee and issue within 7 days.
  • Follow up on Action Items from the Product Residual Value, Pricing, Credit and Risk Committee
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Relevant NQF Level 6 Qualification (Minimum 360 credits on the 8 Level Framework) - Post Graduate Credit / Risk Management diploma or Business Degree with accounting, finance and risk elements or other relevant qualification is essential.
  • Minimum of 5 years credit Management experience (including credit vetting and/or financial analysis) is essential.
  • Minimum of 4 years relevant work experience in the Leasing and/or Automotive OEM environment is essential.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience Working in the South African Automotive OEM environment is preferable.
