Job description
The incumbent will be required to teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Social Work.
In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to be actively engaged in research and supervise student research projects at undergraduate and post-graduate levels.
She/he will also be expected to contribute to other programmes and activities offered in the Discipline, including, but not limited to casework, groupwork and community work supervision; academic administration, leadership and mentoring; and community engagement.
The incumbent will report to the Academic Leader: Social Work
Minimum requirements
A PhD degree in Social Work or Cognate Discipline.
A Masters degree in Social Work.
Three (3) years working experience in either Teaching, Lecturing, Research or Industry (in the relevant field or discipline).
Evidence of current and sustained research publication record in quality scientific journals, appropriate for the level
A track record of successful supervision of postgraduate students at Masters and/or PhD level appropriate for the level
Demonstrated ability to apply for research grants, either as the Principal Investigator or as a member of a team
Registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP) as a Social Worker.
Short-listed candidates may be expected to do a presentation on a specific topic.
