We have a client with an amazing opportunity based in Midrand, Gauteng
Role: Senior Environmental Assessment Practitioner (EAP)
Industry: Environmental Consulting (Mining)
Level: Senior Professional
Key Requirements:
An Honours or higher degree in a relevant environmental sciences discipline; a Master's with a research component is preferable.
5 to 7 years' work experience in an environmental consulting environment, specifically with Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs), Basic Assessments, Environmental Impact Assessments, Environmental Management Plans, Compliance Auditing projects, and/or Environmental and Social Due Diligence (ESDD) consulting assignments.
EAPASA Registration.
Proven project experience in the mining sector is a non-negotiable requirement.
Strong working knowledge of South African environmental legislation, with in-depth knowledge of MPRDA requirements.
Experience in the industrial, renewable energy, and/or infrastructure sectors is beneficial.
Knowledge and application of International Standards such as IFC Performance Standards, AfDB Safeguards, and Equator Principles are advantageous.
Strong preference will be given to candidates proficient in French (reading, writing, and conversing) and/or those with published scientific papers in relevant subject matter.
Personal Attributes:
A highly independent and seasoned EAP capable of leading large-scale mining-related projects, both locally and internationally.
A natural leader who can role model SHEQ performance and drive processes towards Zero Harm.
Possesses strong technical report writing skills, producing professional reports in fluent English.
Exceptional project management skills, including the ability to manage specialist teams and lead public participation processes.
Proactive in engaging with clients and other stakeholders, as well as preparing robust proposals.
Detail-oriented, highly organized, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of broader environmental and social issues (e.g., air quality, waste management, ecological, social).
