Outsourced CFO is looking for a CA(SA) who is a dynamic finance professional that wants to take their career to the next level.
Reporting directly to the Head of our CFO Services Department.
The candidate will deliver an outsourced CFO function to clients by offering high level financial inputs to improve their finance function and ultimately assist them to improve and grow their business. Assist by providing financial information in a format understandable to clients. Help them to turn this information into intelligence and then act upon it.
Job responsibilities will include, among other:
Client Engagements
Build and maintain good existing client relationships through regular meetings
Communicate deadlines and provide deliverables to clients
Deliver on monthly management accounts
Ensure all SARS returns are submitted correctly and on time
Communicate to clients any payments due to SARS
Ad-hoc assistance to clients accountant (internal, external or OCFO) with various accounting treatments and issues
Regular Cash Flow updates, presentation to and discussion with clients
Annual Budget process (preparation, discussion with client, import into Xero)
Deliver Annual Financial Statements (Ensure accounting is correct and ready for drafting, review drafts, deliver and discuss with client)
Ad-hoc strategy sessions with client - mainly upon request
Keep and update a client Risk register. Discuss this with client at least quarterly
Prepare Board Packs for clients
Attend Board meetings, present financial information and provide financial inputs during meeting
Ensure we stay within monthly time allocation of clients retainer package
Communicate potential overruns with clients and negotiate hours to be charged extra. Monthly review time spent and then inform the accounts team of additional hours to be invoiced.
Where applicable and upon client referral, do the introduction to Business development, potentially sit into a meeting with the client
Preparing Financial Gap Analysis for new clients
Preferably after the completed Gap Analysis, discuss the clients main focus areas and develop a 90-day action plan. Action the items allocated to OCFO and have monthly check-in with the client surrounding this. Clients often use OCFOs as a soundboard and/or accountability partner.
Any ad-hoc client requests e.g. Dividends vs Bonus calculation (determine best route, Power of 1 calculations, Labour Efficiency ratios, any useful client specific analysis, assist to set up KPIs for staff or entrepreneur to indicate the business health, during a sale of shares/investments provide inputs regarding legal contracts and link tax impact and financial impact)
Preparing Financial Gap Analysis for new clients
Where necessary, review Internal Controls of clients and recommend changes to improve control and reduce risk
Review processes of clients to identify inefficiencies and room for automation
Where applicable to introduce client to OCFO Integrate team and be the middle man/communicate between client and OCFO Integrate team to ensure all accounting bases are covered
People Development
Ad-hoc training to staff, attending / presenting webinars when requested
Staying updated with CPD requirements (reading articles, attending webinars, research tax/accounting treatment impact on client etc.)
Update SAICA training website for article clerks to complete their competency requirements
Administration
Update timesheets ensuring accurate client billing
Review Zoho monthly to ensure clients are correctly set up
Communicate retainer changes to Directors and Accounts team e.g. a client down or upscaling on their retainer
The ideal candidate for this position will be based in Cape Town, have a minimum of 10 years post article experience which includes provision of financial consulting services to SMEs for at least 3 years.

Salary: A market-related salary will be offered for the position depending on the candidates qualifications and experience.
Head Office: Cape Town City Centre, Western Cape (hybrid approach, being Cape Town based)
Permanent Contract - Subject to a three-month probation period.
