Citrus Packhouse is situated in a pine forest outside Nelspruit in Mpumalanga. It has undergone various phases of significant expansions to provide capacity for fruit volumes designated from the Nelspruit area for Indigo farms and those of partners and other growers. My Client features the latest technology in fruit packing which includes a 14-lane sizer and state of the art fruit camera system.
Description
Job purpose: To lead the financial reporting and accounting functions of the organization, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, providing accurate financial insights to support strategic decisions, and mentoring junior finance team members to maintain a high standard of financial integrity.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITY AREAS

• Preparation of accurate financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets and cash flow statements
• Provide detailed financial analysis to support strategic decision-making and identify areas for improvement
• Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring all entries are accurately recorded and deadlines are met
• Review and approve journal entries and reconciliations prepared by finance department
• Coordinate the budgeting process across departments and consolidate final budgets
• Analyse variances between actuals and budgets, and provide explanations to management
• Ensure full compliance with local and international accounting standards
• Oversee tax compliance including VAT, income tax and statutory reporting
• Serve as the primary contact during internal and external audits
• Prepare audit schedules, respond to auditor queries, and ensure all financial documentation is audit-ready
• Evaluate existing accounting processes and internal controls; identify gaps and recommend improvements
• Implement and monitor compliance with financial policies and procedures
• Monitor the organizations cash position and forecast future cash requirements
• Supervise and mentor finance department, providing training and guidance
• Review team output for accuracy and ensure professional development within the finance team

• Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or related field
• Strong knowledge of IFRS/GAAP and local tax regulations
• Minimum 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 in a senior role
• Packhouse experience will be an advantage
