Job Summary Job Advertisement: Seismologist (10+ Years' Experience) - Mining Sector Research Project We are seeking an experienced Seismologist to join a high-impact research project in the South African mining sector. The ideal candidate will bring 10+ years of applied experience in mining-related seismology, with a strong background in rock mechanics, seismic hazard assessment, and data interpretation. Key Responsibilities: Conduct advanced seismic data analysis related to underground and open-pit mining operations Collaborate with geotechnical and rock engineering teams Support the development of a national strategic framework on seismic risk in mines Prepare technical reports and contribute to scientific publications Minimum Requirements: Tertiary Qualifications in Seismology 10+ years of seismological experience in the mining industry Proven record of contributing to research or technical innovation in mining environments Location: Hybrid with some site and stakeholder visits Duration: Fixed-term research contract (12-18 months) To apply, please send your CV, tertiary qualifications and a brief motivation letter by 25 July 2025.
