Job Description

We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Security Supervisor to join our team and lead our security personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and Supervise Security Staff: Lead and manage a team of security personnel, including training, scheduling, and performance evaluation to ensure an effective and professional security operation.
  • Security Operations: Plan, oversee and coordinate daily security operations, including the deployment and positioning of security personnel, monitoring of surveillance systems, maintaining access control procedures, and conducting regular patrols to ensure the safety of the premises and all sites.
  • Attend meetings with management to determine operational needs, as and when required.
  • Safety and Emergency Preparedness: Develop and implement safety policies and emergency procedures, such as fire evacuation plans, response to natural disasters, and other potential threats. Conduct drills and training sessions to ensure staff readiness in such situations.
  • Security Assessments: Conduct periodic security assessments of the organization's premises, identify vulnerabilities, and propose measures to minimize risks. Collaborate with various internal stakeholders to address security concerns and implement necessary improvements.
  • Incident Management: Respond to security incidents, including thefts, property damage, accidents, or any other emergencies. Investigate incidents, collect evidence, and prepare reports as necessary. Liaise with law enforcement agencies and provide assistance in investigations when required.
  • Compliance and Policies: Enforce compliance with security policies, procedures, site instructions and regulatory requirements. Maintain updated knowledge of local security regulations and apply them appropriately to ensure the company's compliance.
  • Vendor Management: Collaborate with external security service providers, such as alarm monitoring companies, security equipment suppliers, and other relevant vendors, to ensure effective functioning of security systems and manage service contracts.
  • Training and Development: Develop and conduct security training programs for both security personnel and other staff members to enhance understanding, awareness, and response capabilities in emergencies or security-related matters.
  • Security Technology: Stay updated on emerging security technologies and recommend implementation of advanced security systems, CCTV, access control systems, or other relevant technologies as per business needs and budgetary constraints.
Requirements:
  • Grade 12 and / or equivalent qualification.
  • Grade B PSIRA accredited qualification and valid PSIRA membership.
  • Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in a corporate or industrial setting.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team effectively.
  • Excellent knowledge of security protocols, practices, and industry standards.
  • Familiarity with relevant laws and regulations to ensure legal compliance.
  • Ability to assess security risks and propose effective measures to mitigate them.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to maintain calm and act promptly in high-pressure situations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (must have a working knowledge of MS Office) and security-related technology.
  • Physical fitness and ability to perform security-related tasks, including standing, patrolling, and responding to emergencies.
  • Good organisational and leadership skills.
  • No criminal record.
  • Good command of the English Language, written and spoken.
Salary and benefits are as prescribed by the Main Agreement of the National Bargaining Council for the Private Security Industry and include:
