Job Summary
Job Title: Scaffolding Supervisor Reporting to: Operations Seniority
Level: Mid-Career (4 - 6 yrs exp)

Job Purpose: To supervise and manage all scaffolding operations on construction sites, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with company and regulatory standards. The Scaffold Supervisor will coordinate scaffolding teams, plan scaffolding requirements, and maintain high-quality work while minimizing risk.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the erection, alteration, and dismantling of scaffolding structures according to design and safety standards.
  • Ensure all scaffolding activities comply with occupational health and safety regulations (OHSA, SANS standards, or local regulations).
  • Conduct regular inspections of scaffolding to identify hazards and ensure structural integrity.
  • Manage a team of scaffolders, including scheduling, task allocation, and performance monitoring.
  • Maintain accurate records of scaffolding materials, equipment, and site progress.
  • Coordinate with site managers, engineers, and other trades to ensure scaffolding meets project requirements.
  • Train and mentor scaffolding personnel in safety practices and operational procedures.
  • Report incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions to the site management team.
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of scaffolding tools and equipment.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • NQF Level 4 / Equivalent (Matric / Grade 12 minimum).
  • Certified Scaffold Supervisor qualification.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in scaffolding, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role on construction sites.
  • Knowledge of scaffolding standards, safety regulations, and construction site procedures.
  • Valid Driver's License (Code B or C advantageous).
Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of scaffolding systems and construction methods.
  • Ability to read and interpret scaffolding drawings and plans.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to safety.
