We're looking for an energetic and results-driven Sales Development Representative (SDR) to help kickstart our sales efforts. In this vital role, you'll be responsible for identifying and reaching out to potential new partners and clients across our target markets. Using your research and communication skills, you'll engage leads and qualify them, ensuring our Account Executives and Sales Engineers focus on the most promising opportunities. Your work will directly contribute to strategic growth and increased revenue for our company.
Responsibilities:
Product and Industry Knowledge
Develop a solid understanding of smart metering technology and its applications.
Stay informed about regulatory and compliance issues that impact the metering industry.
Articulate clearly and persuasively the benefits of our products, including cost savings, energy efficiency, real-time monitoring, and environmental impact.
Lead Generation and Outreach
Identify and research potential customers (e.g., utilities, municipalities, building management companies, industrial clients) through various channels.
Initiate contact with prospects through outbound activities including cold calls, personalised emails, and engagement at industry events.
Utilise CRM tools effectively to track, manage, and nurture leads through the sales pipeline.
Qualification of Prospects:
Conduct in-depth discovery conversations to understand the potential client's current metering needs, existing infrastructure, or specific project requirements.
Rigorously qualify leads based on the department's established lead qualification policy and criteria.
Determine whether the client is a strategic and technical fit for the company's smart metering solutions.
Appointment Setting:
Schedule qualified meetings or demos for Account Executives or Technical Sales Managers with decision-makers and key stakeholders.
Provide thorough hand-offs with all relevant client information gathered during the qualification process.
Market Feedback:
Systematically report market trends, common objections, and customer pain points back to marketing and product development teams.
Collaborate with internal teams to help refine messaging and targeting strategies based on market intelligence.
Minimum Requirements:
Matric / Grade 12 certificate.
Tertiary qualification in sales, marketing, business, or a related field.
1-2 years of relevant experience in a sales, SDR, or customer-facing role.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Self-motivated and proactive with a growth mindset.
Resilient and confident in handling objections.
Strong time management skills.
Team-oriented, adaptable, and customer-focused.
