Job Description

A well-established 90-seater smart-casual restaurant located in Kloof Street is seeking an experienced and dynamic Restaurant General Manager. The ideal candidate will not only manage day-to-day operations but will also take full ownership of the restaurant as if it were their own businessdriving profitability, operational excellence, and team performance.
This role requires a strong leader with a solid understanding of financial management, marketing, staff development, and guest experience.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
Oversee daily restaurant operations, ensuring smooth and efficient service.
Maintain high standards of customer service, quality control, and guest satisfaction.
Implement and monitor processes to ensure operational consistency and effectiveness.
Financial Management
Report on profit & loss (P&L) statements with the ability to explain and interpret results.
Manage expenses and keep costs in line with operational budgets.
Demonstrate strong knowledge of cost control, stock management, and financial accountability.
Drive strategies to improve revenue, reduce waste, and increase profitability.
Marketing & Business Growth
Develop and implement creative marketing ideas to increase foot traffic and sales.
Identify opportunities to grow the business and enhance brand visibility.
Work closely with ownership/leadership to transform the restaurant into a more profitable operation.
Team Leadership & Training
Lead, motivate, and manage the restaurant team.
Train staff on selling techniques to increase upselling and improve guest engagement.
Foster a culture of accountability, service excellence, and team development.
Requirements
Minimum 2 years'' experience in a Restaurant General Manager role (or equivalent senior management position).
Proven track record in managing smart-casual or similar restaurant environments.
Strong understanding of:
Profit & Loss management
Expense control
Cost management
Stock and financial controls
Ability to implement marketing ideas and drive business growth.
Excellent communication, leadership, and people management skills.
Ability to coach and develop a team to sell, upsell, and perform at high standards.
Strong business acumen and a results-driven mindset.
