The Reserve Manager is responsible for the effective management, protection, and sustainability of Mount Camdeboo Private Game Reserve. This role oversees conservation operations, reserve infrastructure, staff, and compliance, while supporting the overall guest experience and long-term ecological health of the reserve
Minimum Requirements
Relevant qualification in Nature Conservation, Wildlife Management, Environmental Science, or related field
Minimum 5-7 years' experience in reserve or wildlife management
Proven leadership and staff management experience
Strong understanding of conservation principles and environmental legislation
Valid driver's licence (Code B; PDP advantageous)
Firearm competency and first aid certification (advantageous)
Strong leadership and operational management skills
High level of environmental and safety awareness
Duties and Responsibilities
Conservation & Wildlife Management
Implement and manage the reserve's conservation and wildlife management plans
Monitor wildlife populations, habitats, and ecological health
Coordinate game counts, relocations, and veterinary interventions where required
Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, permits, and conservation regulations
Support and manage anti-poaching and reserve security initiatives
Reserve Operations & Infrastructure
Oversee daily reserve operations including roads, fencing, water points, and general infrastructure
Manage reserve equipment, vehicles, and assets
Plan and coordinate maintenance schedules and capital improvements
Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards
Staff & People Management
Lead, manage, and develop reserve staff (rangers, maintenance, workshop, and general workers)
Conduct performance management, training, and skills development
