Duties and responsibilities:

  • Act as Research and Development Engineer for the merSETA projects, namely Green Manufacturing Index, High-performance Engineering Materials, Circular Economy and Candidate Engineers.
  • Become acquainted with, comply and implement all relevant university and faculty policies.
  • Conduct relevant research for the programmes, provide progress reports to relevant departmental and UFS structures and Management Committees.
  • Provide and facilitate teaching, learning, and assessment.
  • Develop learning material and course content, to ensure continuity in relevance and maintenance of quality.
  • Seek ways of improving performance by reflecting on teaching design and delivery and obtaining and analysing feedback.
  • Perform administrative duties as designated by the Head of the Department.
Inherent Job Requirements:

Lecturer
  • A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering on NQF Level 8.
  • AEE Certified Energy Manager (CEM/CEM in training) or other equivalent energy qualification.
Recommendations:
  • Master's Engineering or busy with master's Engineering related field.
  • Diverse project management experience.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with expertise in energy efficiency.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with experience in lecturing at University level.
