Our client, an innovative and rapidly growing player in the agricultural sector, based in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town, is seeking a Research and Development Chemist to join their dynamic team. This role offers the chance to work on groundbreaking formulations and bring impactful agricultural input products to life.
Key Responsibilities include:

• Develop, optimise, and scale up formulations for agricultural inputs, including bio stimulant-based solutions.
• Conduct stability testing, compatibility studies, and evaluate raw materials to enhance efficacy and shelf life.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure product feasibility, scalability, and regulatory compliance.
• Perform analytical testing using GC-MS and/or LC-MS and manage formulation documentation to industry standards.
• Stay current with emerging technologies, regulations, and industry best practices.
• Support the quality control team and assist with extraction and analysis as needed.
• Drive process improvement, manage lab equipment and consumables, and ensure all health and safety standards are met.
• Write scientific reports, manage projects, and maintain organized digital records of all R&D work.

Minimum Requirements:

• Honours Degree in Chemistry, Formulation Science, Agricultural Science, or a related field (Masters/PhD advantageous).
• Proven hands-on experience with GC-MS and/or LC-MS, and other analytical techniques.
• Strong knowledge of agricultural formulations, raw materials, and regulatory requirements.
• A track record of innovation, problem-solving, and process improvement in a lab or product development setting.
• Excellent scientific writing, technical documentation, and project management skills.
• A proactive, solutions-driven mindset with a strong sense of accountability and ownership.
• Valid drivers license required.
