An opportunity exists for a Repair and Maintenance Manager to lead our dynamic team at Camps Bay Retreat.

The Repair and Maintenance Manager will maintain all aspects of the Hotel in good, clean and working conditions, through a preventative maintenance program.
Minimum requirements

  • Matric
  • Tertiary qualification in maintenance management - preferred but not essential
  • Project Management qualification - preferred but not essential
  • OHAS Qualification (advantageous)
Experience
  • 3 years experience in the same or similar position, preferably in hotel environment
  • Project Management or Supervisory experience essential
  • Previous experience in hospitality sector (advantageous)
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor personnel and manage supplier relationships
  • Extensive technical, practical and leadership experience in the relevant filed including experience in leading and managing a multi-disciplinary team
  • A sound knowledge of architectural drawings and layouts, OHAS and related acts/regulations will be very advantageous
  • Provide HR support of large teams including performance appraisals, salary reviews and managing disciplinary issues
  • Project management exposure to upgrades / renovations essential
Duties and responsibilities
  • Hotel gardens to be immaculately manicured and maintained
  • Irrigation systems to efficient and operational
  • Plan the growing, harvesting and planting of flora according to season
  • Assist the kitchen in the vegetable and herb garden - ensuring it is always maintained and that plants are available
  • Maintain gardens equipment stores correctly
  • Establish suitable controls for energy and water conservation
  • Daily walkabouts through property to ensure all areas are neat and clean, nothing is out of place and all work is on track
  • Toe ensure that all stocks and supplies are timeously requested, correct stock levels are maintained and stock ordered under optimum conditions
  • Repair damaged or construct new equipment when so required, within reason, to ensure smooth running and operation of all areas in the complex
  • Conduct monthly stock take and sign of asset list
  • Plans, organises, directs and controls all aspects of the maintenance department
  • Daily issues of work allocations, then monitors to ensure correctness and completion thereof, and that work areas are left in a clean and tidy state
  • To ensure effective communication by attending meetings as required and holding regular departmental meetings to impart information
  • Deals with guests in a friendly and polite manner, offering a high standard at all times
  • Ensure that only approved suppliers are used for contract work
  • Ensure that purchase order procedures are followed - quote, authorisation, delivery, payment
  • Ensure the team consists of qualified emergency personnel - Fire Fighter, Health and Safety officer
  • Understand and maintain the man-plan while staffing according to occupancy and projects
  • Conduct probationary and performance reviews timeously
