  • The Regional HR Officer has a line reporting responsibility to the GM Europe and Africa.
  • The position has a functional reporting responsibility to the Senior European Regional Managers.
  • The Regional HR Officer works closely with Business and Laboratory Managers for all sites within the African Region.
  • The Regional HR Officer must be accessible by all local HR Officers within the region.
  • Acting as a support to managers, you will take lead of people projects to improve business activity such as matters with regards to retention or performance management.
  • Working closely with the Operations & Functional Support leaders, to forecast talent requirements.
  • Develop clear HR expectations and accountabilities linked to the overall Regional objectives.
  • Promote an engaging culture of wellbeing, HSE and professional employee engagement across the region.
  • Attend management meetings and make recommendations for organisational changes and updates.
  • Manage, coach and mentor a HR team across many specialist areas and foster a culture of collaboration.
  • Use innovative methods to consistently communicate strategy and operational goals.
  • Mentor and provide support to individuals or teams on a specific competency or subject matter.
  • Assist in development/implementation of HR policy and procedures.
  • Provide employee relations support and oversee employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Support Compensation and Benefit activities across the region.
  • leadership and advice and support to the local HR teams on various employee relations and industrial issues.
  • Have a clear understanding of company policy, HSE culture and legislation, ensuring this is adhered, implemented, and followed across the business within Europe and African Region.
  • Conducting HR audits and training refreshers on each site within the region on an annual basis.
  • Liaising with Senior Management, you should have a strategic mind and be able to understand the importance other Human Resource function as part of overall business success.
  • Assisting in recruitment and selection activities, both internal and external, as required.
  • Approve and manage the monthly payroll processes for Africa.
  • Collation and completion of the HR Monthly Report and Quarterly Exit Summary Report for all sites within the region.
  • Provide assistance to all local HR teams in relation to any Human Resources queries.
  • Working with other HR teams across Europe, and Globally to standardise HR policies, procedures, systems, and HR initiatives across the Geochem division.
  • Develop and deliver the HR plan across all sites within the region.
  • Keeping all information very confidential.
  • Propose HR initiatives and suggest/implement these to the benefit of business operations.
  • Timely submission and quality of monthly reports.
  • Responsible for the regional Salary Grid implementation and its maintenance.
The Successful Applicant
  • A tertiary qualification relevant to Human Resources Management.
  • A minimum of 15 years working experience in an HR Department and at least 5 years in an Senior HR Manager role.
  • Generalist HR Management experience for 10 years.
  • Significant HR Leadership experience.
  • Accurate and current South African HR-related legislative knowledge and the ability to implement accordingly.
  • Excellent interactive skills, both internally and across various laboratories throughout Africa.
  • Demonstration of exemplary problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships and effective ways of communication with all local officers in the region.
  • Have proven hands-on attitude, flexibility, and adaptability.
  • Ability to motivate and influence others.
  • Knowledge of company safety policies, infrastructure, reporting protocols and general work safe procedures.
  • Promote safety.
  • Complies with current standards.
  • Notifies any unsafe practices.
