A Quantity Surveyor (QS) plays a critical role in the construction industry by managing the financial aspects of building projects. The QS is responsible for ensuring that construction costs and contracts are managed effectively from project inception to completion, ensuring value for money while maintaining quality and compliance with regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare
cost estimates
, budgets, and feasibility studies for new construction projects.
Manage
project finances
including cost planning, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow monitoring.
Conduct
cost analysis
for repair and maintenance work.
Assist in
contract negotiation
and procurement, including preparation of tender documentation and evaluation of bids.
Monitor and track project progress, identifying
variations
, and assessing their impact on cost.
Liaise with clients, contractors, architects, and engineers to ensure accurate and efficient communication.
Manage
interim valuations
, progress claims, and final accounts.
Provide
advice on contractual claims
and dispute resolution.
Ensure all project costs are properly documented and aligned with
legal and regulatory requirements
.
Requirements:
Diploma/Bachelor's degree in
Quantity Surveying
,
Construction Management
, or a related field.
Experience in BHM equipment design, manufacture and installation and its associated infrastructure and equipment
Work Environment:
Office-based with regular
site visits
to monitor progress and verify claims.
May require
occasional travel
depending on project location.
