Quality Tester Tech Solutions Company Senior

Cape Town, WC, ZA, South Africa

Job Description

The Tester role within a tech low-code solutions company combines traditional software testing responsibilities with specific considerations for the rapid development cycles and visual, component-based nature of low-code platforms. Testers ensure that applications, often built quickly to solve specific business problems, are functional, reliable, and meet quality standards. Key responsibilities of a tester in this environment include:

Requirement Analysis:

Collaborating with business analysts and stakeholders to understand the business problems and requirements. A key aspect is understanding how these requirements translate into testable features within the constraints of the low-code platform.

Test Planning and Design:

Developing comprehensive test plans and designing detailed test cases based on functional and non-functional requirements. This involves creating test data and mapping test cases to requirements to ensure full coverage.

Manual and Exploratory Testing:

Executing test cases manually, simulating end-user interactions. Exploratory testing is crucial to uncover unforeseen issues that might arise from the interconnected, visual nature of low-code component assembly.

Defect Reporting and Tracking:

Documenting and reporting defects found, providing clear, detailed information (steps to reproduce, expected vs. actual results) using bug tracking systems. Testers work closely with low-code developers to resolve and retest these issues.

Automation Testing:

Identifying opportunities for automation and developing automated test scripts or frameworks using relevant tools. This is essential for regression testing, especially as low-code platforms receive frequent updates.

Collaboration and Communication:

Working closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, project managers, and business stakeholders, to ensure effective communication throughout the testing process.

Quality Assurance and Governance:

Contributing to overall quality assurance efforts by providing feedback on software development practices. This includes ensuring adherence to platform-specific best practices, security standards, and governance policies.

Continuous Improvement:

Staying current with rapid platform evolutions and identifying ways to enhance testing processes and methodologies to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
In a low-code context, testers must be adaptable, have strong problem-solving skills, and be able to explain technical concepts to non-technical business users. Their role is vital in ensuring the high quality and rapid delivery that low-code solutions promise.
