Who are we?

Sanlam Developing Markets [SDM] (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sanlam Life Limited) is one of the top financial services providers in the South African entry-level and emerging middle market. It aims to understand the unique requirements of clients and offers a wide range of simple and affordable financial solutions that cover needs such as funeral insurance, savings for education, life cover and personal accident plans. In terms of the Sanlam Group Governance Policy, SDM is managed by the SA Retail Mass cluster, which is part of the Sanlam Life and Savings cluster within the Sanlam Group. The cluster focusses on retail products, as well as group schemes.

What will you do?

  • Conduct SOPS (Standard Operating Procedures) reviews
  • Recommend improvements to existing processes and controls
  • Audit scheme implementation and assess potential risks presented by new schemes
  • Audit all aspects of Cross Sell Operations, including new business generated by partners and inhouse teams, policy servicing, policy Retentions transactions and legal documents
  • Audit client facing documents and agreements with external administrators
  • Compile management reports
  • Draft monthly and quarterly reports
  • Test adherence to the TCF outcomes
  • Effectively communicate with external and internal parties
  • Assist with risk compliance functions which become necessary due to legislative requirements
  • QA calls and rate agents according to a rating framework
What will make you successful in this role?

Qualification & experience
  • B Comm (Auditing) or other relevant tertiary qualification in business
  • Preferably two years in an auditing or checking role within the insurance environment
  • Strong funeral and life insurance product knowledge
  • Experience in long term insurance Operations
